BLF-X5 Instructions

I recently purchased a Blf-x5 and received the instructions from a link on the Bang Good web site. I believe much has been lost in the translation. Does anyone have clearer instructions or can explain in non- translated English how to work this flashlight. In addition, how do you turn off the blue end cap light. By the way, if you can explain it in redneck Arkansan, I’m sure I’ll be able to understand.

Off the top of my head

The programming mode is reached by fast partial clicking 15 or 16 times
The programmable functions are in two groups of double flashes
The first group switches between 4 output levels and 7 levels
-click between the first two flashes to change from 4 to 7 or back again
The second group controls mode memory
-click between the second two flashes to turn the memory on/off

The tailcap light can’t be turned off, what I generally do is unscrew the cap a little when I don’t need that light on.
There is a way to add resistors to make it dimmer but you’ll have to search for that thread.

Hope that helps some.

Did you get the aluminum version or the copper version? If the aluminum, you can twist the tail cap until it shuts off. If copper, you’ll have to remove your battery to shut it off.

Dale explains the UI pretty well

Lexel, that’s the flowchart for BLF A6 firmware, which is similar to Bistro UI but has fewer options.

Here’s the Bistro “cheat sheet,” which applies to the X5, X6, and the Astrolux clones (S2 and S3):

Thanks guys,
I had the printed instructions RobertB, and discovered that about a quarter of a turn of the end cap turns off the blue light, I’m sure the YouTube will help. Thanks Lexel and goshdogit for the flow charts. I’m not used to having a flashlight smarter than I am.

The flowcharts are invaluable.
As I begin to give away “last year’s flashlights” to my bicycling friends who need to find the blinky-attention-getting setting.
