I couldn’t find anything about this, so i ask the question:
Can the Convoy L6 driver, the FX30 run on 3 cells in series?
Because it’s a buck driver it would be nice if it could, so that you always have enough Voltage for maximum power.
Because normally you have the minimum voltage drop of a buck circuit which will ruin the fun when batteries run lower.
So can the FX30 handle 3S Li-Ion battery configuration?
(of course the default low voltage protection will not work for 3S)
They seem to stock it at kd but the info is conflicting, it states that input voltage is 3-9V but then it also says that LVP for 3-cell input is set at 9V and 3 full cells is 12.6V.
so is the driver from kaidomain different to the one on the Convoy L6 in therms of electronic parts? Or is it just the modes that are different?
I need something that can take 3s.
Besides the firmware, the other change to the L6 version is different sense resistors. The L6 uses 2 R082 for about 5.25 amps which is more output than the stock version. I think stock is maybe 4.5 amps.
Jdub-74 is in contact with Simon at Convoy and he could probably tell you what input range the L6 driver has.
I think KD's FX-30 input range is 2-3S, as listed for the above (#4) aforementioned e-switchless version. They just messed up with the description for the e-switch one, I believe.
I wanted to share some info on this new FX-30 driver I got from Kaidomain. Not the Convoy version, the original.
This has a unique interface not described on the website. The tail switch puts it into standby and the side switch only has 3 brightness levels plus a strobe. You can turn the light on and off from the side switch. Very odd. I made a quick video on YouTube showing how it works and went into more details on it.
Would anyone happen to know if there are some points on the FX-30 driver capable of powering an led when power is flowing through it?
I would like to get a clear side switch boot for my L6 and have an indicator for when the rear switch is turned on. Kind of like the new Thorfire S70s does.
I just tried 3 A123 cells in my stock L6 and it works great. I was using only 2 before and knew I was never getting full power, but didn’t have time to upgrade it. Sorry, I don’t have any 26650 li-on batteries to test out.
