Aurora SH-034 Quad Nichia 219C

I did not take any build pictures with this one but thought i would post anyway

I always liked the form of the sinner customs but never got round to buying one so this is fairly close

Quad Nichia 219C D320 5000K emitters
20mm T-Pad XP DTP Copper MCPCB
6A LD3 driver with overtemp control
Copper press fit heatsink & brass driver ring
Potted driver with Arctic Silver Alumina
Artic Silver5 on pill & body threads
Reverse clicky switch
Custom made switch housing with external steel switch surround
16500 cell compatible
Around 1600 OTF max lumens
Cyan GITD bezel
Graphite rings on tail

Max – 1600lm
cd – 3500
Throw – 118m

.

That’s crazy output for the size. It’s a beauty. Nice work!

Looking nice! I like some of the really old models too, like the Ultrafire C3, and this Aurora.

You will need the overtemperature control of the LD3 for this light, after how much time does it kick in? And is the temperature control regime a good match for this light?

Where did u find 20mm quad boards? Richard dont sell them :frowning:

Edit: awesome build btw!

Yeah i think this was one of the first lights i bought, it’s been through a few iterations, the previous being a UV light. I would like to get my hands on the even more compact SH-033 too.

I’ve got the max current set to current controlled and toned it down to 5A (love some of the features of this driver)
Just timed it at 1:30 for stepdown from max with the temp set to factory 65°C which leaves the head just holdable which is fine.
At these settings the stepdown is from 1160lm to around 340lm where it hovers around.

Although again, my setup is probably not the best, the thing i like about the LD3 driver is that i can put the light on and leave it as it will regulate itself with the max amount of light output for such small hosts without allowing them to melt themselves to destruction :smiling_imp:

For most people i would say that no, the 6A temperature control regime is not good match for this sized host but you know me, i put one of these drivers in a triple foursevens atom so this is a great max runtime as far as i am concerned for a compact light.
The LD3 3A version would be a more sensible choice for small lights.
A great man once said “there are always lower modes”

Thanks, RMM is where i got mine a while ago but you’re right, sold out now.

CRX, your mods are unbelievable. Not only are they always performers, but I can always tell which lights are yours from your very unique style. The work you do is as much art as anything else, and will never fail to impress me.

Thank you for your kind words :+1:
