Overdue Hello from Utah, USA

I’ve posted a few times already, but didn’t notice this forum at first. So I’m late, but here goes.

I’ve been a software engineer/enterprise architect for 30 years. I wasted a lot of money on cheap chinese crap lights before I discovered BLF, and now I spend too much money on inexpensive but high quality chinese treasures.

My current obsession is high CRI. My old programmer eyes need all the help they can get, and finding the dog’s gray-green ball on the brown-green lawn at night, or worse, pre-dawn or dusk, is much easier with 1 or more 219b emitters.

So here’s my current high CRI collection including my first build (the S2+, obviously):

I’m actually slowing down now. Don’t laugh, but most of my flashlight needs are pretty well met. I’ll probably need to add some more Thorfire, Jaxman, and Convoy lights. I don’t own any Utorches or Eagle Eyes, so I’ll likely rectify that situation eventually.

Nice collection!
Idk if I said welcome already, but better safe then sorry so: welcome to BLF!

Wow, a fellow BLFer from not only Utah, but Orem! Me too! Suddenly I don’t feel so alone in the world. Your collection photo is not showing up for me but I’m also a bit tint-obsessed.

Cool! If you see a bald guy walking a border collie and carrying a Thorfire S70, that’s most likely me

Ok, I think I fixed that. It should be working for everybody now.

I enjoy a little overkill myself. I frequently walk my dog around the neighborhood with a Convoy L6. Definitely not needed with the excess of street lights around here but that light just makes me smile!

I hope you have fun here, manithree!

I attended BYU for two semesters and have many ties to Utah.

Welcome to BLF manithree! I totally agree with you about high CRI.

I lived the first 34 years of life in Orem and surrounding area… but I’m in Hawaii now.

Welcome!

 Sounds like you have summed it up. Welcome to the club

Welcome ot BLF!!

You live in Utah and don’t have any Utorch? Their two flashlights’ models are UT01 and UT02!

Anyway, welcome. BTW, I lived in Logan for 5 years.

Lol! I’ll make sure the budget committee (which includes Mrs. Manithree, the Utah native) is aware of my grievous oversight.

Thanks for the many warm welcome messages!

Welcome aboard manithree. Thanks for sharing your CRI collection. Very nice. Hope you have a great time here. :)

Welcome to BLF.

Are you missing an AAA? I couldn’t get through a day without mine.

Thanks. I don’t have a 90+ CRI AAA. My wife carries a Convoy AAA on her key ring. My current EDC is the S41 or a BLF A6, but if I ever think that’s too big, I’ll carry the S2+ with the 18350 tube.

I don’t really like alkalines, and the 18650-tubed S41 in my pocket doesn’t bother me.
