DQG Tiny 26650 7x XPG2 Question

I have a DQG Tiny 26650 XPG2 on the way. Is there any way to swap them out with Nichias? Any drivers available that would fit? I’d love to send it to someone who could do it for me if it’s possible.

The designer of the light, George, said:

“about nichia 219b/c, first I cannot resource this LED, then I think more important thing is, the optics seems not so fit to nichia leds, the hot spot is not clear and the lux is much lower than XPGs at same current set. So, that’s why there have no nichia choice.”

Assuming the optic did fit over the nichia, why would you want to change drivers?

If you change so much, maybe it’s better to start with a different light?

Xp-g2 and 219b/c have same footprint. So, yeah, you can change, but that will be a lot of work(reflow time)

Forgot my pen

1) I just prefer nichias. Their cri and tint is just beautiful

2) you know of any other light this small with that many LEDs to use instead?

It really is a let down that the optics do not fit. From the reviews the neutral version looks too warm for my taste and I’m not a fan of cool white. I bought the cool white version. Since I can’t mod it I may just sell it depending on whether I like it or not. I was really hoping for a nice 4500-5000K nichia build or at the least a 5000K stock version. Oh well, I’ll just have to accept it for what it is. It seemed like it had so much potential. Such a shame.

If you want to write it off before you even get it, that’s up to you. Sad

Personally I don’t think the cool white is very cool. There is no blue in it. Outdoors, the colors look quite natural (grass, trees, etc…) Don’t be so depressed. Lol

The UI is my favorite. You can access every level from off. Brilliant.

I wish the button pressure was a bit less, but it does prevent accidental turn on if it’s in your pocket. Mechanical lockout is also there.

Oh I haven’t wrote it off yet. Just bummed about the inability to mod. It just seemed like it was finally something different from the same old things being modded. I don’t have a lathe so I can’t go make something from scratch. I am interested in 2 I saw recently though. A c8 and a S2+ with an xhp50.2. That new mecarmy with 9x xpg2 seems pretty cool but the price is crazy. I do like the manker mk41. I want to add something to my shelf that’s different than the rest. lol

I’ll admit when I’m wrong and really am eating my words. This thing is in my top favorites now. I don’t understand how it does what it does. The beam angle is pretty wide but yet it still throws a crazy distance. From a block away it still blasts the treeline and you’re right, the tint is very neutral. My gunsmith buddy ovvered to reanodize or blue one of my lights and I think I’m going to give him this one to play with. He did a dark almost black bluing on dirty harry’s gun (can’t remember, .44?) and it looked amazing. He’s going to fix some dings in my lights. I haven’t seen it myself but he talks up his anodizing process.
