2017 NBA Finals

Hey, it's that time of year again...

NBA Finals time, that is!

For the third year in a row, it'll be the Golden State Warriors vs. the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Finals start on Thursday, June 1st.

Who will you be rooting for?

I think the Warriors are favored, but I like LeBron and the Cavs!

celtics!

Warriors but I think it goes to 7 games unless Thompson gets really hot. There’s enough talent on both teams to counter Lebron, Curry & KD which leaves the rest of the teams to put up the points. I think the Warriors have that kind of depth but Lebron is a different breed of cat.

Both teams are capable of shooting but which will have better D? Both teams rolled through the playoffs but were they equally tested? I think the Dubs play better team ball at both ends based on their defensive rating and assists ratio so it may have made their run look easier than it was, that level of coordination takes a lot of effort, practice, and selfless action. Also, injuries played a roll in favor of both teams. Not enough to change the outcome but certainly enough to shorten each series and both came through with their major players healthy this time around. I hope that continues so we can see the best of both teams.

I want levron

With the same 2 teams facing off once again, I am getting somewhat bored!

Just watched thunderstruck 2012 movie as preparation for KD’s finals tomorrow

will home court advantage make a difference? It didn’t last year as GS lost game 7 on home floor. I think GS wins game one. What do I base that on? My desire

Curry got pretty beat up last year. Both teams have their “enforcers” but I hope they don’t play prominent roles.

KD always delivers, James doesn’t.

This year warriors are the stronger team thanks to KD

James certainly delivered but when KD and Steph are both hot and you get a dose of Klay as well it’s just not fair. Klay’s been cold since the first round and they’re still perfect. I expect things will be a bit different in Cleveland. You can’t beat the Warriors trading 2’s for 3’s unless your efficiency is damn good. Love, Shumpert, et al will have to light it up some more or hope for a Warriors slump. James scored well and had plenty of assists but neither he nor the rest of the team shot enough from deep.

Game on!

KD - the giant killer!

It's looking bad for Cleveland.

It took an all out effort from Lebron and Kyrie to get just a few points up on the Warriors and at the end of the game that effort and those minutes seemed to take a toll. A fresher Lebron and Kyrie might have simply gone strong to the rim yet again but both elected outside shots instead, missing and opening the door for the end of game Warriors 11-0 run. KD still had the legs to both drive to the hoop and shoot comfortably from deep. During the brief spans when Lebron was off the floor the Warriors were quickly able to take advantage forcing him into those added minutes, not the case when the Warriors rested key players. The discussions over who’s the best player seem pointless to me in a team setting where there are so many differences in both how the individuals play and how the teams set up their offenses and defenses to capitalize on or neutralize those strengths. Just as they did 2 years ago the Warriors are proving that right now they have the best team with players willing and able to forgo individual stats in order to apply maximum pressure on any team that requires that of their stars. This is why KD chose to come to Oakland, not only would it give him the best chance at a ring but the chance to play ball on a team where winning is the only stat that matters. Their path Continues to be littered with opponents that filled the stat sheets. Some thought that adding KD would make them top heavy with not enough ball to share but Steph and Klay made room for KD to allow him to grow into his role, dramatically cutting their own opportunities for acclaim. It wasn’t until KD was injured near the end of the season that Steph reasserted himself as the leader of the Warriors offense, proving to those who could see that he was never gone but simply doing his part to incorporate KD into the team even though it cost him in stats in his critical year approaching free agency. At that time, many thought that the Spurs would easily take over the #1 seed but his absence simply afforded the remaining roster room for growth and a place to add Matt Barnes to the roster, yet another key veteran. “They’re good” doesn’t begin to cover the depth to which they as an organization, a team, and as individuals are committed to doing what it takes to win. Wilt Chaimberlain was inarguably the best of his time but it was always Bill Russel’s Celtics that were champions in the end. Lebron is on the verge of losing another championship match, one need only look at the Bill Russell/Celtics example to see why choosing the Warriors was an obvious choice for KD. For another kind of player or team it would have been a poor choice but for both him and Oakland it was the right one. Injuries can and do sadly play a prominent role in the outcome of matches and careers but in an era where players determine where they play I have nothing but respect for this choice and hope it leads to a long run in Oakland. Past champions and their home cities have had their runs, please don’t begrudge the Warriors and their fans that same joy, it can’t last anymore than it did for others.

Matt Barnes, another key veteran? Please.

Interesting to see what transpires in game 4. Don’t think Cavs will roll over. GS, I’m sure, would love to end it on their home floor. And it would be to go 16-0 in the playoffs

Agree with your post Rufus, except about Barnes.

He’s one of what, 12 guys on the roster of each finals nba team? Right now he’s got more “key” than any other player in the league that can only watch from their living room.
I expect more from the Cav’s than most of the talking heads you see and read, the Warriors won’t be champions until they tear the crown from Lebron’s grasp. No walkover.

Curry has 1 basket and 1 rebound in the 1st half of this, a closeout game.

Thompson has 2 baskets and 2 rebounds.

It seems James and Irving needs to get back one game. :rage:

Many strong isolation.
