First 18650 Torch Convoy C2 or C8

A simple newbie enquiry.

Can anyone advise if the following protected olight batteries would work in either torch?

If protected batteries do not work in convoy torches can you advise which 18650 budget torches accept them?

Well just my opinion, but you can buy any light you want and then just buy yourself some quality IMR cells and then you won’t really need to worry much about that protection stuff, if you learn about cells and what is good and what is bad then once you understand cells you can buy whatever you want to buy without thinking your going to blow yourself up, IMR cells vent very nicely if at all and some others don’t, so when I’m advising new people I always tell them to just buy IMR because they are about as safe a chemistry as you can buy and I think even as safe as any cell with protection built in and that protection really does sort of limit your performance in your light, or I should say that it can, low amps generally speaking, I think with protection 10amps is about the max I know of before it trips the protection.
I’ve never had an issue with not using protected cells, I just make sure all my lights are working properly and their not some junk light and I buy generally Panasonic and Samsung 30Q cells,
Best thing is to learn about cells though, go to Battery University and read up as much as you can handle and have fun, that Olight by the way is a Panasonic I believe but it’s what they call I think a B bin cell which is one that didn’t quit cut the QA inspection for being sold as a genuine Pany so they sell them to be re-wrapped like with Olight on the wrapper. And also that is a really expensive cell for what it is frankly…

If your battery do not fit in Convoy C8 then change battery  .
The opposite is no sense.

@T18 Thank you for an informative post. I will check out Battery University.

@Tangra i dont own a Convoy C8 thus asking about batteries prior to purchase.

Hey mate. I’ve got a C8 and a Olight 3400 18650 fits fine. I don’t see why the 2600 wouldn’t.

Thanks for the info. Means i can buy with confidence. 18650 Torches are very pricey locally which is why the convoy caught my attention.

the Concoy C8 has a really large diameter and lengh, pretty much every 18650 protected cell will fit

the new convoy C8 with DTP star, AR lens and biscotti driver is a nobrainer just buy and use it, for a beginner its impressive

or buy and mod it later
light

SS bezel

AR glass

Pocket clip

for cells dont buy Olight or Nitecore brands they are just rewrapped Panasonic, Sony, Sanyo or LG cells for 2-3 times the price

He’s right ya know…

I’m a newbie in this world of flashoholics and I’m totally sold for Simon’s customer service, in which in an ideal world where the rest of China sellers should based on. Not to mention, the quality for the money is bang on.

If I’m in your shoe, the only choice is to decide based on the size and type of usage. Once that is decided, get a battery that will fit. Then sit down and think bout your next Convoy purchase… Or upgrades parts

Take a look at Lithium-ion Batter Safety on this forum too.

And, yes, most batteries fit in a Convoy.
