Imalent is attending the Asia Outdoor Exhibition where it is demonstrating three new models. One of them is the DX80, which according to one source (1) can reach 32000 lumens. That’s right: thirty-two-thousand lumens… :confounded:
Same story here: probably going to love the light for its specs and looks, but seriously question reliability. Anyhow, Imalent is certainly not standing still.
The real question is how long will it be able to do that kind of output. That will be around ~300-500W worth of heat depending on how they intend to reach that output. A CPU cooler would be needed to keep that kind of heat in check for any length of time.
I personally accepted the fact that this kind of output will solely be a “burst” mode, and not like how “burst” was used two years ago, but really burst, as in a minute or so. I’m more interested in steady state output. 3000 lumens and I’m happy.
Ah, so this was the outdoor show they hinted at. I could only find the one in Arizona, but that didn’t make sense. I’d like to know more about those rooftop tents.
Thats some serious lumens. Im 100% sure you wont be able to hold it (bare hands) after 1 mins at those outputs.
There is just physically not enough material to transfer that much heat. I created a 21000lm light bar and it has a huge aluminium heatsink of 300x100x50mm and that hit temps of 57 degrees after 10 mins, then stabilises at that.
Now something that small would only be a 30 second burst at max until it hits above 50 degrees C. None the less, I would want one haha
Your posts were definitely not rude. Based on what you said, I should have gotten one too because I wouldn’t touch an Imalent branded flashlight with a ten foot pole from my own bad experience with them.
HR20 wasn’t it? Yeah I haven’t forgotten that either… I do like Imalent’s offering; they just have a different vibe. I can only hope they truly have improved QC. I mean they sell a lot of lights I guess, and the more defective products they sell, the more upset customers contact Banggood and Gearbest. Those vendors will complain to Imalent etc. No one benefits from defective products… We’ll just have to be patient to see what’s going to happen. It’s part of the flashaholic’s life and charm I guess.
I forget the model but it was the headlamp that flickered. Also, the end with the USB and brightness control fell off on mine without dropping it. What a piece of garbage.
