Shipping advice sought: US to Europe

Hi all,

A European user asked for someone in the US (that's me!) to buy a phone case off Amazon and ship it to Europe. No problem- phone case is $10.

The requestor suggested UPS, who want (drum roll.....) $125!

USPS Flat-Rate (the case will easily fit into the envelope) is better at ~$25, but that still seems steep.

The package is maybe 8"x4"x.5", so not huge. Can anyone suggest a good shipping strategy?

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, shipping from US to Europe is not cheap these days. The USPS rate you got is probably going to be your lowest, but I am subscribing to this thread to see if someone offers a cheaper alternative.

Whenever I buy something for someone in Europe these days, I try to buy it on Amazon DE or UK because the shipping is cheaper that way.

Did you ask them if they have a surface mail option? I believe flat rate still goes by plane over the ocean. Surface mail like used for batteries should be cheaper. Will take a extra couple weeks or so to get there

AFAIK, USPS no longer has “by sea” option to Europe.
