S6 Convoy DOA or am I doing it wrong

Hey I just ordered my first 18650 flashlight, a convoy s6 from gear best. I also got some ultra fires to power it and I already have an EBL charger. I charged up the batteries but the light doesn’t turn on when I click the rear green button once. There weren’t any instructions with it so is it doa or is there something I’m missing?

Thanks!!

Ultrafire was a bad mistake, but that is another issue.

Assuming the battery is in the right way round, and there is no insulating material preventing contact, perhaps the battery is a flat top and you need a button to reach the positive terminal? My first lithium powered buy, a Klarus mi7, had this issue, solved it with a small magnet.

If there is a spring in both ends like the S2 that is not your problem, maybe you have protected batteries and they are too long, not allowing the end cap to screw in all the way?

I’m pretty sure the batteries have protection circuits. I only got the ultra fires as a stop gap since I had no others at the time. S6 has springs on both ends.

Did you lightly tighten the tailcap?

So, let’s rule out a switch failure
-Take off the tailcap
-Place the battery in the correct position
-With a wire, make contact between the non-anodized edge of the tube and the negative of the battery

Does it flash and nothing else? Possible failure to trigger the battery protection circuit

Does it ignite anything?

Do you have a dmm to see if the batteries are putting out any volts?

Hi
First read about li ion safety (link in my SIG, hopefully your native tongue is there too if it is not English)

Then check if all is tight (brass retainer rings and such
What is said above too, DMM is very useful

Protected cell is almost assuredly too long, not allowing the tail cap to screw down far enough to make contact. You can always use the ToyKeeper quick fix and bend a paper clip into a circle so it lays on the ground ring of the pcb in the tail cap, it should make up enough space difference to allow the battery tube to touch it, thereby making ground contact for a complete circuit.

Yes I do have a DMM and V is solid at 4.1. The paperclip trick worked! Thanks to everyone for your help.

That depends.
This one: https://www.gearbest.com/batteries/pp_391356.html has a proper LG cell under the wrapper.
Don’t know about other UltraFire cells, i never buy them.
