It's raining!

Real rain! For the last hour or so it’s been raining. Not a torrential downpour but a beneficial rate. This is the first real rain we’ve seen in two months. Lawns were brown and dying, the canal’s water less than a foot deep, and somehow we weren’t considered as seeing drought conditions. I take care of my lawn, my mother’s next door, and a friend across the street’s since she’s still in MI being treated in an attempt to repair damage done by Cleveland Clinic. Anyway, it’s been so dry I don’t dare walking on the lawns or mow. It’s been over a month since I mowed and I’ve even been ignoring the feathers left during the daily visits by the local wild turkeys that I normally gather to avoid damaging the lawns but… It’s raining!

Too bad the drought destroyed my vegetable garden - wish I’d planted tobacco instead since dry weather always seems to produce excellent leaf.

Whoa, first I’m heading of you guys having a dry-spell.

We just had a drizzle here. Wind, dry, then rain for a few days being “predicted” (ie, don’t believe any of it ’til it’s actually happening).

California has received a massive amount of rain over the last year, but before that, record drought.

la la la

Until the recent rain over the last two months rain has passed to the north and south, splitting to miss us entirely. I had a feeling this spring I should plant tobacco again. If I had it would have been my best crop so far (for quality not lbs yield) and bright leaf would have been extra sweet and turkish exceptionally flavorful. The red burley would have made some excellent perique.
