Budget Ferro Rod from GearBest

I am sure a fair number of you, like me, have outdoor hobbies. Hiking, bushcraft, camping, mountain biking, kayaking, etc. that either require the making of a fire or might require a fire in an emergency situation. For example, maybe you keep a space blanket and some snacks in the Camelbak you use while cycling.

Anyway, I sure some of you either have or have considered the wisdom of owning a ferro rod.

About six months ago I ran across this one on Gearbest for under $3 USD. I think I paid $2.89 for the eight I purchased on two separate occasions. They are currently down to a mere $2.49. That is stupid cheap compared to a name brand one that cost upwards of $12 or $13.

These work great, so if you need one, tossing a couple in your cart the next time you order up a budget flashlight should be a no brainer.

Here is a little video I made about it.

Here is the link. To be clear, I paid for all of the ones I own and this is not a link where I make money. I am only trying to give y’all a heads up to what has to be the best deal in ferro rods out there ATM.

+1, I have this exact one. I was dubious when I ordered but it’s great. I have the orange handled one too which is also great.

Kewl, tnx!

Think I’ll get myself a few, now that they’re on sale, too.

Wouldda been really nice to get the 10pak for about a buk each, but all the multipax are discontinued. :zipper_mouth_face:

I too have several of these exact ones. They work great.

Cool… yep I’m an outing coordinator for my sons boy scout troop. Were always teaching the boys about gear redundnacy, backup and “systems” of essentials when we are out and about. Cant beat a good scandi and jute twine. Thanks for the tip!! I have an old Coghlans’ rod that needs replacing.

yep

I saw that. That is a bummer. While it is slightly more expensive, you can always just add more to the cart till you each your limit.

Look how chewed up that thing is… too cool. Lots of memories there, I bet.
