Hi from Sweden!

Hi,

I am surprised that I joined this forum. Everybody knows that flashlights are boring. I don’t know how I got interested in this topic. Some time ago I suddenly got interested in coins, which are also very boring… and now this? Maybe it’s because it’s so dark up here in the north. Anyway, glad to see that I’m not the only one

I would actually like to begin with asking for some guidance in finding my first REAL flashlight. Should I ask right here or is it better to ask in one of the dedicated forums?

Cheers!

welcome aboard and prepare your wallet

Hej och välkommen! Det finns några från Sverige här.

Have a pleasant time at this friendly forum, Lurvas7!

Where to begin?

I think you will start to realise reading through, that there seem to be standard references to lights almost everyone seems to have, or know well.

Convoy S2+ and C8, maybe L6
BLF A6
BLF Q8 (latest and greatest BLF creation)
Skilhunt H03 (headlamp)

All of the above are great value and quality, and use 18650 batteries (edit - L6 uses 2x26650, or 2x18650 with adaptor). I’m sure others will add to the list, these are the ones that immediately spring to mind.

You can’t go wrong with a $8-9 Grey Convoy S2+ 6x7135, always on sale somewhere (Don’t pay $10!).
Convoy S2+
Simple and functional, a great reference light.
Look through the current commercial sellers adverts, you will find this one in several.
The A6 is much better, but twice the price.
Go for the C8 if you want a larger light with more throw.
The L6 and Q8 are $40-60 depending where and when you buy, and are not single cell, but are impressive.

Happy hunting, beware the addiction, it gets expensive.

If you want a torch between the flood of the S2+ and the throw of the C8, get an M1 or M2. If you want an S2+ with a tighter, more intense beam, the S2 is your puppy.

Although I don’t quite agree that cheapest is best. Get it from Convoy’s Aliexpress store so you can request the Biscotti firmware, it’s just so much better in all situations, no exceptions.

Also, read the Lithium Ion Safety 101 thread (can someone please link it?)

And welcome to BLF, of course

Hi and welcome aboard.

Just think of it this way. Who doesn’t want to wield the power of the sun in their palm of their hands?

Just tell them Flashlights are like poke’mons, except that they’re real. You gotta collect them all.

Welcome! Safest for your wallet is to go for the Emisar D4. You don’t need much else after that.

Välkommen in i värmen!

Hi and welcome Lurvas7. Dont forget the quality battery and charger to go with your torch.

Welcome to BLF.
I would start a new topic in the LED Flashlights – General Info
Explain what you intend to use it for, what you expect from a light, size as in pocket light etc.
Wide spread beam at short distance, 1000 meter thrower or just a general light. Battery type as in NiMh, liIon, USB connection to light etc.
Oh and what kinda price range or budget for said light.
Nick

edit: Who says flashlights are boring? There are some pretty neat lights out there at really good prices that are amazing. User interfaces and LED capabilities are pretty wild today. How bout a 15 Amp single cell light that fits in your pocket? Real nut burner if it gets switched on by accident though. But it exists.

Welcome to BLF Lurvas7! Flashlights are boring? Us cool people know better.

Hi guys! Where do you buy batteries in Sweden? Because I can´t buy batteries from China I think is because there are problem with the customs or flghts I don´t know.

Aliexpress, ebay, dx.com has worked last few months for me.

Where do you live?

At the moment I would say that Gearbest is the best option. They have good prices and quality comared to other seller.

If you follow some of Gearbest offerings I think you can get a good deal. Take it easy and read what Gearbest offer. Sure you can find sheaper batterier from other sellers , but probably fakes.

Just my 2 cent

Welcome!)
