FOR SALE - DEFT HO

I have a DEFT HO that I want to find a new home for. It is an HO in all but name, and it’s one of the very last 8 that Michael (Saablaster) built and advertised for sale in 2010. At that time, August 10th, he said:

“These use the HO drivers and glass optics as well as the shock absorbing bezel created originally for the FTP. They also have the same heatsink method as the HO with the LED directly soldered to solid copper for excellent thermal transfer. The only thing they lack from being HOs are the AR coated pre-collimator and the leather lanyard.”

Since then the light has been back to Michael twice, for a gassing problem in 2011 and a check-up in 2012.

I bought the light originally as a mini searchlight for a centre-console boat running the inlets of Florida. I am now back in Europe and no longer have a boat or any inlets. It’s wasted here. If a European buyer is interested, I’m in France - if that helps.

Light is in fine working order, but shows wear and age commensurate with being stored on a boat. The anodising is marked and scratched in one or two places, for example. The lens is in perfect condition with no scratches. Pics available via PM if you’re interested in seeing it.

I’d like €200 for it, but be aware that postage and insurance will be at the buyer’s costs and the postage will be dealt with separately via PM. I can wrap and box and protect to a high standard - lots of bubble-wrap waiting for a trip. Paypal or credit card are my payment choices.

For those who do not know the DEFT HO - it is a thrower of the highest order, powered best by four AA lithiums. It’s a unique light because of the power source and the distance it can throw to - with that power.

Thanks for looking.

Blimey, I remember when the waiting list for a DEFT was two years long and people sold a kidney to pay for one. Just goes to show how spoilt we are for choice nowadays

Times changed. DEFT like performance has become mainstream, and now is even available in budget light form. Latest example is Astrolux MF02 with 500+k lux for a lot less than $100 with discount code. Top notch quality too.
It always helps to have (beautiful) pictures. I also don’t see specs listed, so you might want to include them as well. Good luck! :sunglasses:

I totally agree with you - the DEFT is a classic for collectors, now, no more than that. There are certainly a whole lot of decent budget throwers out there for way less money. I still like the sabre-light effect the DEFT gives you though

Are you also selling on CPF? There are more collectors over there.

I tried there earlier this year without success. Sadly.

Thanks for the suggestion, though….

Can you post some picts

Is this different from the DEFT-X?
