Looking for a sensor headlamp

My friend asked me to help for searching a special headlamp. I have no idea where I could buy that type of headlamp. Can anyone help?

My friend is a 50 years old ultra-trail runner. He gets eye sickness. Hence, he needs a headlamp with a sensor which can detect the distance between him and the obstacles. Thus, the headlamp will auto adjust the beam/power of the light. Then , his eyes can comfortably see things and save time to adjust. (I.e. The light will turn dim when he reads map. The light will change to higher output of lumens if he look at the trail in front. All automatically) He had one such kind of headlamp which was brought from Petzl. However, Petzl does not sell this anymore. And, his current one is about to die.

Does anyone know any this type of headlamp? Where can my friend buy?
Thanks!

The Petzl does not detect the distance to the obstacles, it has a light meter on it that measures how much light is in front of it. So if the user looks at a map or something close, the light the sensor sees will be brighter and is then auto adjusted. It’s like thermal regulation except it’s light regulated, definitely not distance regulated. I’m thinking about testing this out on one of my own headlight builds.

I don’t know any other brand that utilizes this technology, but as far as I know Petzl has not stopped with this at all. Have a look at their “Performance” range: https://www.petzl.com/US/en/Sport/PERFORMANCE-headlamps

Oh yes! That’s what I mean. Thanks a lot! Cuz I went to the local store last week. They said they dont have it anymore. It is great to hear that Petzl is stilling making it.
