3D printer recommendation?

Recently I moved to apartment so no more hammering and drilling in my backyard unfortunately, but I just can’t give up on tinkering so I thought 3D printer would be more suitable for the apartment, it was on my wishlist for years I think it’s time  Now I need recommendations, advices, found Anycubic on aliexpress, I3 Mega
looks interesting, what do you think guys.

Budget is no more than 250$ (less is better) I am sorry I’m poor so that’s all I can spare,
Also Anycubic has a storage in Germany and I have 2 options to deliver it in Germany and then bring it to Serbia potentially without additional costs of delivery, customs fees or taxes which saves me a lot.
I am looking to mostly print hard things that could take some wear and tear and not be brittle (gears, parts that would interact with each other, moving parts), also I recently saw interesting video where they printed sort of a rubber and that give me some ideas for custom 2-button tailcaps, L shaped o-rings…

Any advice is welcome :+1:

Thanks

Shipping from Germany to Germany is $94.15 - you saw that?
With that, this thing is 120$ over your budget

I personally like the Delta-style-ones: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Anycubic-3D-Printer-Pulley-Version-Linear-Guide-DIY-Kit-Kossel-Delta-Large-Printing-Size-3D-Metal/32749394922.html? - the most expensive version is $275.11 delivered from germany to germany
Semms to be a good one, too: Anycubic kossel 3D printer review! Great value for 200USD - YouTube or Anycubic Kossel $200 3D Printer Review - YouTube (watch the last video completely, there is a twist)
Or you order it from GB and get an insane price: https://www.gearbest.com/3d-printers-3d-printer-kits/pp_640022.html?lkid=10841072

Anycubic I3 MEGA I second that.
Mike

My god, they are even cheaper than I thought they were.
150€ gives you a 3D printer that actually works pretty good.

But what to do with a 3D-Printer?

Give it to your kid to learn 3d designing for bright future?

Wait what! $94.15 for domestic transport! Are you sure? that doesn’t sound right.
Shipping this thing across Serbia would cost $10 max and it’s a next day delivery, I expected that domestic transport in Germany would be even cheaper!
Thanks for the recommendation, this delta style printers are interesting but I always leaned more towards standard “box” type printers, somehow it’s easier to imagine XYZ movement in my head. I know, it’s unrealistic “fear” but I just like standard ones more.
Do delta-style printers have some advantage over “box”-style ones? (other than taking less space horizontally and more vertically), do they have better print quality? that would be significant factor for consideration.

Btw, shipping this thing from China to Serbia cost $726 :open_mouth: :person_facepalming:
Cheapest shipping option from gearbest for Kossel is about $105 but because this would go through customs inspection there are additional 32% I would have to cash out so, printer + shipping + taxes and customs fees = about $360 / $370 easely…

I have a 4K Monitor, so if this doesn’t show right - http://up.picr.de/31189674la.jpg

What I read:
Delta-printers are faster than XYZ but with a chance of being less precise (not all models) - also, they are better for high prints and they look way cooler

Gearbest shipping price is weird.
Shipping to Croatia is free and only 25% tax, that would be about $215.

Maybe you have someone in Croatia to order for you and you can maybe meet and take it?

That’s insane :person_facepalming:
I think it’s a marketing scam, they say “о look, we have discount for next 5 days, 35% of , best price ever” but then they ramp up shipping costs to compensate for the discount and you end up saving nothing :expressionless:
I wonder what would they say if I recommend to come to their warehouse and pick up the printer personally  (I have a business trip to Germany scheduled somewhere in January).

Unfortunately XXX-Man, I don’t have anyone in Croatia, sadly it would be more complex for me to get it from Croatia than from Germany.

Watched all the way to the end, what is the twist? I don’t get it!

What about a used 3D printer off of eBay or a similar website?

A lot of budget 3D printers are going to disappoint you, and upgrading them to the point where they can reliably print flexible materials like you hope to, will easily double the price of them!

The Wanhao i3 V2 or V2.1 is highly commendable for beginners and won’t require much tinkering, not to mention plentiful spare parts, upgrades and advice on forums.

Another recommendation - though I’m not sure how it will handle flexible filament - is the Creality CR10.

I’d also steer clear of budget delta printers, as at the best of times delta printers suffer when printing finer details.

That’s just my two cents anyway! There are great forums on Reddit and the likes for advice too.

Loose printing head support arm!
This seems to be common issue because I already saw couple of videos where they mentioned this.
Also watched couple of videos about filaments, concluded that PLA will not be best for my needs since it gets “softer” at only 60 degrees of celsius, I was hoping for at least 150C stable prints!

Since you assemble this thing by yourself, you are responsible for tightening the screws and/or using Loctite.
It’s not the printers fault - and if you only watch the video to 5:30, you get the impression the this printer is pretty bad - which it isn’t (at least not that bad).
That’s what I meant

Which basically means the first 5 minutes of the video is a waste of time. He should have edited the video and cut that crap out, viewers that wern’t put off by sloppy results and continued watching shouldn’t have to suffer for his incompetence.

Very beginning he said the printer was assembled by his father. I caught that part and the loose screws.
I think the video should have been a do over just to be fair on the performance level.
And shown more details about the firmware he used (installation) and how some settings made some things better. As a entry level 3D printer that info is more valuable to a Newb.

But as it is I was not pushed off by the performance. For the money I think it’s pretty darn good.

Creality CR10 (first edition 300€) nothing comes close in quality/price.

Game changer.

I’ve been looking at 3d printers too. I don’t think you can find a 3d printer that can do this very decent for the price point you are looking for.

I found this one: Page Not Found - Aliexpress.com (sorry for the Dutch link)
It’s the creality ender 2.

Small size, cheap and supposed to be decent quality.

Interesting design but how sturdy it is I wonder, It doesn’t inspire confidence on a first look!
