BLF-GT Tail Flange / Tactical Ring

Pictures of the BLF-GT show negligible increase in diameter beyond that of the battery tube at its rear end. The tail-cap is much the same diameter.

I’ve always been a fan of the hour-glass shape for torches. Not only do they look meaner, but because the shape provides a safer grip and thus complements proper knurling. BLF-GT by comparison seems decidedly parallel sided. Intuitively going that seems -feels? wrong. BTW parallel sides seem to be at the moment in fashion for regular lights across the big-name makes but that is just that -fashion.

Photos of people holding it seem to show them handling the beast as if wrestling a boa-constrictor. So I’d still presumably prefer that extra flange or ring for a sure grip. Extra protection anti-roll and moding-potential with a ring option. Retro fitting? Haven’t yet had the torch in my paw.

What are your thoughts?

This reminds one of the joke: “Why do men have a …” err ok; I’m not even going there!

The center of gravity for the GT, fully loaded, is right about even with the switch. Holding the beast toward the tailcap is uncomfortable at best. It does get a little wider at the tailcap so if you happen to let it slip there’s a good chance you’ll catch it on that raised portion.

The knurling and rings on the tube provide pretty good grip without being sharp or rough.

Now for additional anti-roll… maybe. As-is if you put it on a flat surface and no outside forces act upon the GT, it stays solid in place. The cut outs on the tailcap and head don’t do much to stop a roll though.
