Best 18650 flood light.

I’m a logger and we often work in the dark(pre-dawn) on equipment. The boss gave us each as a Christmas present a zoomie light that is a super cheapo but still showed me an aspect that I hadn’t explored. Probably a 10 ft. wide beam at 10 ft. Any suggestions on quality lights with this kind of flood?

Yeah, I generally dislike zoomies rather intensely, but I love the nice blanket of light when on flood. They lose half or more of their total light output when zoomed.

If you can get a nice cheap (<10bux) Boruit RJ02 headlamp, you can very very very easily change the TIR lens with one of your choosing. It comes with a rather narrow-angle TIR, like 30° or so, and I replaced mine with a 60° one. Unscrew the bezel, pop out the old lens, pop in the new one, screw the bezel back on.

Look on Amazon for “20mm collimator lens”, and you’ll come up with a bunch from uxcell or other mfrs. Might be in a pack of 5-10, but they’re pretty cheap overall. Scratch one lens, toss it and pop in a new one.

They come in everything from 5° to 90° or even 120°, but I find the wider angles to be a bit ringy.

Plus, the RJ02 easily comes out from the headband, and you can “palm” it to use as a regular flashlight if you want to.

Good heads-up. Thanks.

Last year, I bought an Armytek Elf C2 for working on cars in my poorly lit garage. It’s held up great so far with more light than I could possibly need at 10 feet or less and is wide enough to fill past where my peripheral vision starts in the same 10ft area. I’m very interested in the RJ02s, have one on the way. Headlamps look dorky, but I can’t recommend them enough for task lighting…

Thanks for the tip about the lens replacement, Lightbringer. I’ll have to pick up some of those as well. It’s worth noting that the Elf will run you between $40-50 vs the <$10 RJ02, but it comes with a decent battery, onboard charging capabilities and a questionably useful warranty.

Skilhunt H03 headlamp Frosted lens good light levels.

You mean like this?

Led Lenser is the best for this type of lighting.

The RJ02 has onboard usb charging. Switch glows red while charging, green when done.

Also has the magic IR wave-on/wave-off feature that’s tres kewl.

Forgot which one, but either ledsupply.com or illumn.com has TIRs a la carte. You can even get an elliptical-beam (think car headlights) if you want to wear it while biking or maybe lighting up a whole workbench w/o wasting light on the wall or floor.

These were dirt cheap enough for me to “stock up”. Was going to treat these as disposables, but my first one is just hanging on without fail. I don’t intentionally beat on it or abuse it in any way, but I was thinking cheap is cheap, but it’s held up flawlessly the whole time. Hell, I even used it as an emergency battery-charger when I didn’t want to grab an LK or unbox my Ope. It was there, I had a usb cable, so…

I even stick it in my back’n’forth bag, kinda hoping for a power blackout so I have an excuse to use it.

Oh yeah, having like 4-5 “extras” for the same bux as 1 “good” light is my warranty.

Illumn.com has the nitecore hc50 on sale for $30. My favorite floody headlamp
