Been looking at the Q8, D1S, but I know there are tons of new lights coming out so if there something else I ought to consider, I'd appreciate the tip.
Emisar D4 seems to be most impressive in terms of light output for size. I don’t have one but I have just got a Q8 and even running on just 2 old batteries it’s very impressive. I think the D4 steps down quite quickly as it gets very hot very quickly so the Q8 is a lot more useable. It’s more lumens for longer so I bought it but you may feel the smaller size makes the D4 more impressive.
The D1S is a torch I am really thinking of buying as I want a small thrower for when I am hiking. I just got an Astrolux C8 which, if my figures are correct, is 102k candella and 639 metres of throw compared to the D1S 132k candella and 721m of throw. It hasn’t impressed me like the Q8 has BUT I haven’t had the chance to try it in the outdoors to really see how far it throws.
No dont get the nichia emisar, it gets way to hot fast, even my XP g2 gets hot in less then 10 seconds on highest. But either way that light will give u that Holy Crap reaction. blf q8 seems nice too but maybe little over your budget?
