Convoy S2+ high temperature and battery safety

My Convoy S2+ is getting really hot after 10 minutes in highest mode. Is it safe for 18650 battery to use flashlight in highest mode on bike when temperature is high for longer time?

It may be unsafe to your skin, but the battery should be fine.

Also, when you use it on a bike, there is going to be good amount of airflow, which will help keep temperatures down, too.

With that said, how hot does it get? Have you measured it? If it gets hotter than normal, then you may have some heat transfer issues which may need to be fixed.

I’ve seen about 66 deg C max at the head of my S2+ 8x7135 XPL HI, standing up with no airflow.

I assume the air flow from a moving bike will make it safer than if it were only sitting still

Not an exact answer to the question, but djozz’s S2+ full power thermal tests may be of interest:

An S2+ 8*7135 shouldn’t be used on high for extended periods of time. At least I wouldn’t risk it.

yea at highest its not the best thing to let it get that hot… cant be good in the long run.
