CMICR18650F8 2600mAh (from an EE Power Bar)

In my introduction post yesterday I mentioned that I don’t have any 18650 batteries yet, well…

I found my old EE “Power Bar” (you know the ones that were all over the press and were eventually recalled). Well I never returned it, and opening it up revealed a 18650 cell (so I do already have one).

It contains a CMICR18650F8 2600mAh made by Eastar Battery (datasheet). I couldn’t see any information on here about it, so I thought I would start a thread incase anyone comes across one.

I haven’t tried it in any flashlights (I don’t have any yet) but after charging it, it’s sat at 4.15v.

Should I keep it or dispose of it? I have some decent Sony batteries on the way so I’m not planning to actually use this cell in anything. Looking at Eastar Battery’s website doesn’t fill me with any confidence

I should also clarify my model of the EE charger (E1-02) isn’t the model which had the original issue (E1-06) but they ended up recalling all versions in the end (millions of them).

I am doing a review on a 2S2P battery pack (to be posted soon) by RockBros that has these same cells in it. My cells are testing out very very good for a Chinese cell and are driving my 4A BT40S lighthead easily (better than most other packs I have). 2.0A discharge graph after I balanced the cell pairs (remember, this is an 8.4v 2S2P pack):

Here is a comparison of these cells to a KD pack built with 2S2P Panny NCR18650B’s (these cells hold high voltage during discharge than the Panny’s):
