Gearbest - shipping via Sweden missing Postal Codes?

If you have recently ordered from Gearbest and if the shipments were sent out from Sweden, can you check if the printed shipping label includes the Postal Code (I’m in Canada) or its equivalence such as Zip Codes for the US?

I have 2 such packages came in and someone wrote the postal code on the package with a big red marker. I presume this was done by Canada Post.

I have another order from Sweden that is approaching the 2 month mark that has yet to show up.

The Postal Code omission is concerning as it’s used as a key identifier for the mail sorting process.

Packages from China, the Netherlands and the UK have the complete shipping address based on my experience.

Huh, this doesnt sound right, why would an order from Canada go via Sweden from China ? that sounds like asking for trouble lol. Sorry i cant help really last order was from gearbest like in december or so… i think GB messed up your order somehow?

It’s not coming from China via Sweden. It’s coming from Sweden - Gearbest has a warehouse or fulfillment center there I presume.

No.
As many other chinese sellers, they are trying to cheat system. Many countries dont like millions parcels from china, usualy they are last in sorting queue and buyers have to wait longer time (i.e. if two parcels came to some coutry one day, one that was shipped from uk will went faster that other that cam from china). National post systems are loosing many money (delivery inside country is often more pricey than full order cost) so such delays are not forbidden (and sometimes even encouraged).
To avoid this problems, seller need to have legal entity in one europe country (sweden, finland or netherlands). Goods are not importing in this countries by documents. Bag full with parcels (each already have label with europe in “sent from” address) takes from one aiplane and puts to another one. Thats all. Warehouse in sweden is too expensive option for e-commerce low-coster.
P.S. I know that not 100% shipment from eu address are going as I described and for example BG already have EU warehouse.

kiriba-ru,
Interesting. If the goods/printing labels indeed originate from China, it’s weird that only the ones marked as sent from Sweden are missing the postal codes.

I think this is software bug. Today I got parcel from the UK, all adresses were right except one thing, return address had russia instead uk at the end.

I ordered some inexpensive items from gearbest as a test.
One was a small canvas bag which I got in about 3 weeks.
The other was 3 flashlights which I ordered on the 27th of Feb and hasn’t arrived yet.
?
They came today, 1 month and 2 days shipping time.
From what I’ve read on here; that’s normal.

It could well be a software issue.

FWIW, when I ran the issue by Gearbest, they claimed that they gave my complete address to the shipping company. Maybe they are trying to deny responsibility.

I am also from Canada and ordered a couple of items just after Christmas. When I set up my account the postal code area demanded 7 digits. Ended up going to chat to get them to correct it after I completed the order. It came via Swedish mail but did not arrive till the second week of March. The postal code was printed out correctly.

John

My order is coming via swedish surface mail to US, California and it appears zip is listed correctly. Hope that helps

Swedish mail (Post nord) operates World wide. If you order something from China I can guarantee they never goes via/from Sweden.

Kind regards

Thanks for everyone’s input.

Looks like it’s a case of hit and miss then.

Out of curiosity I did a bit of digging and according to Wiki PostNord is part of the DPD_Group who in turn has a majority share in Tigers who specializes in global eCommerce logistics so it may indeed be possible that those packages are coming from China after all. Check out Tigers for a video on what they do if interested.

Live and learn…

hm i doubt they would have a center since i know nothing about it nor can find any info they would…. but either way postal here foreign is slow as hell now…

It probably just took a de-tour for some reason so u will have to wait… :frowning:

Yes if you refer back to the more recent posts I now think that end-to-end global eCommerce logistics is at play here.

I think Gearbest’s courier uses various international shippers, depending likely on which would be cheapest.

Once I’ve ordered some low-cost stuff using the “untracked” shipping:

- one time, the tracking number is China Post Registered (which can be tracked to my country) = this is good for me (since I selected “untracked”)

  • another time it was shipped via untracked Sky56.cn (can track it while it’s inside China only; it’s not China Post “ordinary/untracked” parcel)

- then the third time it used another tracking number that can also initially be tracked via Sky56.cn (while inside China)
=> this third time is very curious, when I got the package, the label says “country of origin: Solomon” and “if package is undeliverable, please return to Western Solomon Islands”. I don’t suppose the package actually went to Solomon Islands before turning up in my country though.

My experience is that all foreign postal tracking numbers are changed to Canadian tracking numbers once they land here but those are never reflected on the Gearbest order page.
