If your intent is to use them in devices where you won’t be charging at least once per year, go with regular Eneloops. They have lower self-discharge, and have a longer life span. The Pro’s are for frequent use, where capacity is more important that longevity.
Right now I’m thinking a bunch of remote controls which have low usage so the standard might be better. Also kind of want some for flashlights though where i’d prefer the higher capacity.
Really wish I could get a mashup set up AA/AAA/regular/pro but that doesn’t exist.
Well, for remotes and such, with very low current draw, even Alkalines are better than any rechargeables. To see just how much difference it would be, look at HKJ’s comparator. Of course, you know that Alkalines may leak and destroy your devices. :confounded:
EDIT: To really have fun, look at Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA versus Eneloop!
My eneloop pro were bought and never actually used (like, ever). Didn’t have a TV remote and only 18650 lights.
I found without any use and no charging (they were full when stored) they were constantly self-discharging all the time. I believe they have 1 or 2 charge cycles on them now and they don’t like that at all.
I’d just stick with price as the primary factor . I’ve heard peoples opinions of the newer eneloops vs older but don’t notice any difference between the two.As long as it’s a made in japan LSD priced right you can’t go wrong .
Actually was happy to see i had some junky china/Kodak AAA’s new in a pack stashed away so I didn’t have to put better nimh in a bunch of cordless phones.
this is BLF so price is paramount
I have a few Japanese eneloop pros and they typically live in torches that are seldom used and have high power draws in turbo modes. Have never had any issues with their self discharge. They typically sit for 3-6 months.
