XP-G2 or XP-L Hi @ 1.5 amps

Have a light thats driven at 1.5 amps, dont want to mess with driver.

Has XP-G2 now.

It led swap to a neutral tint.

Would I loose or gain output and throw with XP-L Hi??

Say both same tint.

Dont want to dedome xp-g2
Light has good throw now.

What about run time?

At 1.5A?

It would lose throw.

Thats what I was thinking.
Will look at some charts when get off work.

Was trying to make a order up.

Glanced at one chart. Lumens for cool white at 1.5 amps was 566 (texas ace) not sure I understand the voltage column on that chart

Which one would give longer runtime?

Is there a good resource that shows which LED’s are the most efficient at various levels?

For example, for travel, which would be the most efficient for running mostly in a low-medium mode at around 1-30 lumens? (probably 0.1-0.3 amps I’d guess?)

I am looking for most efficient @ 1.5 amps.
Also interested in lower levels.

I know there are charts, I’m on phone, thats slow

For lumens, the XP G2 gets about 600 lumens on 1.5A, while the XPL HI is about 650 lumens.

So, for most throw at 1.5A, you should just get the XP G2, since it has the smaller die.

Thanks,do you think the xpl Hi is somewhere betweem xml2 and xpg2 ?

Yes, it is between the XML2 and the XPG2, seeing as the XPL HI has the same die as a dome XM L2 inside of a smaller package and domeless from the factory, and the XPL HI has a bigger die than the XP G2.

Ok. Also have this light in a xml2 I will compare beams this weekend to see what I like most.

ok, I found some graphs from djozz.

XPG2 @ 1.5 amps looks like 480 lumens

XPL Hi @ 1.5 amps looks like 650 lumens.

170 more lumens for the XPL Hi

Yeah, but the die size is a ‘bigger’ difference, meaning that you’d still be losing intensity with the XP-L versus the XP-G2. Lost intensity means less throw. So, you have to decide if you need the throw of the XP-G2 or the lumens output of the XP-L HI. Have you done your comparison with the XP-G2 vs. XM-L2 lights to decide which beam profile you like better?

Planning on doing that tonight when it gets dark.
I have 5 lights that I really like. 2 have XPG2 2 have XML2 all stock. 1 is XML2 neutral swap with DC-Fix and I love it.
So, I was thinking of maybe swaying a XPL Hi into one of the XPG2 versions to be like the one with DC-fix with possible more throw. Do I need it? Not not really , I have other light that throw better then both.

DavidEF how about a spell check lol

Spell Check:

Or did you mean “spill chick” instead?

Just take the amps and multiply by the voltage to find watts…
Then you know how many watts the LED uses at X voltage.
