Noctigon Meteor M43 short review and photos

Although this flashlight has been around for a few years, when i was searching for reviews and photos of them, there was not many results. I just received mine few days ago and think that some more photos and opinions might help those who haven’t owned this light in making decision.

If pay attention to details, this part for lanyard is not machined well, and the sharp edge could potentially cut lanyards, the edge should be rounded.

I didn’t notice this before but another member pointed out, the button and the leds are not symmetrically placed, this is not a big problem but should not be a problem at first place because it wouldn’t cost much to place them symmetrically.

This flashlight is well built and has a lot of mass in it, everything is thick and heavy duty, thread, tube wall, mcpcb, springs, wires,… knurling are quite aggressive compared to my other light but it’s ok for this big and heavy flashlight.
It uses 4 18650 batteries in parallel but can use less battery, if uses 2 or 1 batteries it will need something like fake batteries to keep them straight. It weights 546 grams with 4 batteries.
Nichia 219C R9050 5000k leds are good but i prefer less greenish tint.
UIs are very complicated at first for me but now i’m quite enjoy using it. There are 3 different UIs but i just used the first one.
Things could be improved:
+Pay more attention to machining details
+Place leds and button symmetrically
+The button light can be in “breathing” mode instead of just flashing or constantly on.

Overall, i think this is a very good flashlight for its price.

I intended to mod this flashlight with my Nichia 219B R9080 sw45k however i already modded a D4 with these leds and found it a nearly perfect edc with excellent tint. So no need to mod the Meteor anymore and keep it main point-high brightness. However i still don’t understand the purpose of the copper ring, to conduct electric (connect leds’ negatives)? but the surface that it suppose to be mounted to- is already electrically conducted?

I thought the copper ring served as a spacer, I can’t remember where I read that though and I don’t own this light to check for myself.

I actually just created an account to thank you for this post. I just bought a Meteor and was hoping to find out more about it.

So many lights have been released modelled after this “pop can” light, and I personally think its still the nicest one out there. Sure, there are others that can surpass it in peak turbo output, but in anything this size the ridiculous turbo’s aren’t sustainable and all lights will step down.

I myself value sustainable long term lumens vs peak turbo’s that overheat and step down. The Meteor M43 strikes a near perfect balance at that.

Super efficient driver, amazing LED options, super compact, thermally regulated, interchangeable Carclo optics, parallel battery configuration, and beautiful and refined aesthetics. Other than UI preferences, this light is a steal for $98.

I use the simplest of the UI’s and actually love the simplicity about it. No ramping, but I can live with a well selected pre-defined output knowing that its regulated and more efficient over its cheaper following.

Thanks for the review. Great photos.
