“For the price this is a good host but nothing like a real Z1, period.”

I don’t have a real Z1 so just how much better is it over the Cometa in real life terms?

Yes, of course. Still showing 143 in stock.

Maybe get a VPN where you can choose the end-point from around the world.

And use a private browser window so those pesky cookies don’t persist.

The same applies when trying to book flights etc.

The mind-games continue Wink

I am thinking Banggood oversell clearance price stock and pick the one with lowest shipping cost for them in order to save cost.

The point is that once the problems on the Cometa are fixed
Which are the Pro of the Z1?

Swap the plastic ring to the right one and see if you get the same results.

If not the left one is somewhere set up differently than the right one and thus doesn’t necessarily prove that the plastic ring will tend to work for all samples recently received out there.

Worth a shot for others to try the same experiment though. Couldn’t hurt.

I presume you know to read… I told that is on my tested sample and tell people to test on theirs if they want, so your post have no point..

Hmm my only one pastic ring on driver spring. So they are selling different batches probably, one come with both rings and one with only one..

As regards of the host that some of you tell that this is good/excellent host, I can’t agree, why, because last night I have just a little time for testing but what I saw on hurried, a b158 stock host ( with nanjg 105c and XP-L HI ), performing similar to this cometa with fet driver on full zoom mode !

I will do tests when I have more time and post here but what I saw on briefly b158 host is much more better for full zoom that this one !

Yeah T18, that was quite a time for everyone….. to say the least. In fact, if you’ll remember; the RUDE button was created toward the end of that time.

I’ll just leave it at that….. Wink
……….

As far as the difference between the Cometa & Jaxman Z1, what do you think? Besides the Z1 was an original design of Paul’s of course & the Cometa was a knockoff.

To me the ‘differences’ are mostly subtle.

I think the pill & disc of the Z1 are no doubt better designed. They both work of course, but as far as I am concerned the Z1 is much more refined & thought out.

The overall tolerences of the Z1 just feel tighter to me in general. Wink

Those are my thoughts on the subject……

Ok I get that there are subtle differences it appears more so in the overall quality of materials and workmanship, but as far as raw dog performance the differences then are also subtle?

Just want to hear your opinion in that particular aspect. However, I f that’s all you want to say on that specific could-be-touchy-subject-in-view-of-the-past-circumstances, I can also understand any reticence. Shocked

I have not measured the numbers of each, but IF I had to choose only one (leaving out cost & all the BS of the Jaxman design being ripped off, etc., etc.) I’d go with the Jaxman Z1.

That’s about all I can tell you. The Cometa is good enough, the Z1 is a bit more refined to me.

A VW will get you where your going, so will a Porsche. Your choice… Wink .. Big Smile

Also 22 mm size driver or more is better on 26650 host like Z1 I agree.
This 17mm need to be perfect fixed on pill and put in secure
to avoid shorts problems, tollerance are too smalls.
The head threads loose a bit and don’t have O’rings (Jax z1 have?).
Is rought when turned,need Grease
and can slip on the Led when head is hot

Back ordered probably doesn’t exactly mean that, since I very much doubt that Manker are making any more of them, even if Banggood would touch them with a sh*tty stick if they did.

I expect it just means that they are moving stock around between warehouses, of which the UK one still seems to have loads.

But with BO, you might just have to pinch your nose and wait, if you really want it. You do, don’t you ?

Well, that’s my theory, but, who knows ?

Can you post the reply? I’ll likely cancel too if it is a backorder.

Oh, what fun to pay extra for shipping (USA Express), and not get a tracking number.

First order, free, came with a tracking number.

Second order, paid almost 4bux extra (was supposed to have the cells, so wanted fewer complications with “better” shipping), and no tracking number.

I have a back’n‘forth in email, which is pretty much like “blah blah blah Ginger blah blah Ginger blah blah blah blah Ginger”.

Fun… Enough to turn anyone off ordering stuff for a while.

It still is, fortunately only the lip is broken.
Once it’s installed in the head I can’t see any defect and it doesn’t affect the beam…
Anyway I have a second one “processing” on BG right now Innocent

I ordered one (without batteries) on 9/24. After a bunch of back and forth, including 18-24 hours when it was supposedly backordered, despite them showing multiple pieces in stock, I got a notification it had shipped on ~9/29/. It took until ~10/5 for a tracking number to show up.

Their site says there is no tracking data, but checking the number on USPS shows that the label was printed on 9/29 in SLC. It’s been like that for at least a week. Current ETA, according to Bangood’s site is 10/28, which is probably two weeks later than what I’d originally been led to believe.

Oh well. I’ll give it more time.

In the meantime I ordered another. There were three in stock when I ordered & two after. Now my order info is showing backordered. But the site says there are three units in stock.

I’ve never had anything close to this much hinkyness from Banggood before, at least not at this stage. I’ve had things take forever to get here. I’ve had them ship the wrong thing. I’ve had them be incredibly reluctant to make (sufficiently) good on their mistakes or product problems. This though, this is new to me.

.

I ordered W/battery on 9/20, I cancelled the order a couple days later once I got the cancel button. They had already shipped the 2 free 18650s which haven’t shown up. Then I got a notice they had shipped my order on 10/9. I guess I’ll take a look at it and decide iffn I want to mess with it or flip it. I’ll no doubt keep the 26650 iffn it’s in there.

Be careful with the lens, lucky for me I dropped mine from about 5mm height where it already sat on my table, when open the bezel, make sure the lens is facing down so that it doesn’t drop out of the bezel. The lens is loose inside and not holding itself on the bezel.

I turned up the heat allowance and now the driver-side anti-short ring is pretzled. It'll still do the job but it's loose now. I'm going to add some kapton tape just for kicks.

The main reasons I bought this flash in multiple quantities is for the AR glass lens, the short 26650 tube, the twist zoom, the pocket rocketability and of course the great BLF price.

But must of all I bought it to piss off TOM TOM. LOL

I really do not know what BG is playing. They still sell the light China warehouse but my order switched to backorder yesterday.
Also i had to contact the support for some questions in the last two month (pre sales product information). The answeres i got were not the answeres to my question. Not even close! If i had asked my postdelivery guy the questions i would have gotten a answere that is more usefull! It was always bad but not this bad!

Mine also back order even though it is still in stock status now. I asked CS and was told it is in processing. No proper direct answer, are those CS actually AI robots?

It appears the ordering process on this one is kinda like a ‘box of chocolates’… you never know what your gonna get. Or when your gonna “get” anyway. Big Smile
