Convoy Copper S2+ question

Will the Copper Convoy S2+ at the Convoy Store Aliexpress of Simons tarnish? For anyone who has one.

I want to get one but only if it will tarnish. It would be nice if it had no clear coat and was raw copper. Or is it a copper anodized finish?

It is raw copper, although a different type than we usually see so it is easier to machine.

So yes, it will oxidize.

It is coated with something. Not sure if it is anodized or some paint lacquer or something else but it wont tarnish.

Here is mine, few months old now and still shiny as the day i got it.

I bought one from the initial batch few months ago. It didn’t tarnish but I stored it away in a dry place and haven’t used it so I can’t tell if it is coated or not. You should ask Simon. He responds quickly on Aliexpress.

That said neither has appreciably tarnished yet and I EDC them in a maintenance job…

Simon told me this morning that there IS a protective coating on the copper.

I used straight acetone (on a microfiber cloth) to remove the coating.

Be aware that acetone will dissolve many rubber type switch covers.
I lost an UltraTac K19 to submerging it in acetone.
Best to wipe it down.

I like the coating myself.

The S2+ is easy enough to completely disassemble. When I got mine, I stripped it down to the bare copper pieces (head, body, & tail cap), then went at it with acetone and a toothbrush.
Took a bit of work, but finally got all of the clear-coat off. Thumbs Up

Good advice either way but the convoy boots should be fine. I dunked an M2 for quite some time and it was fine. With that said I would still wipe it cause this clear coat may not be as resilient as ano and you dont want that acetone on any longer than it needs to be.
