MMA aka Mixed Martial Arts

Hey guys, just wondering if any of you guys follow MMA. I followed the sport from very start back in 1994 when on pay per view until today. I followed all the federations that were back then.

UFC, Strikeforce, World Fighting Alliance, Affliction, Bodog, Wold Extreme Cage fighting, etc….

until today’s federations : UFC, Bellator, OneFc, PFL, etc…

BTW, did you see Conor Mcgregor loss after all his trashing this past weekend?

My son was in town and so he invited some of his old friends over and bought the pay per view. It was my first pay per view ever. Really enjoyed all of the fights but especially liked the Joe Rogan – Derick Lewis post fight interview which wasn’t censored. Crazy stuff. My kid told me it was coming too. (theres a Utube version of this, interesting watch if you don’t mind swear words) Lewis was losing terribly then knocked out the better fighter with 11 seconds left. All the fights were great, kid had predicted that the Dagistanian would beat Connor as well (although Connor was fighing well) – the crazy ending surprised all of us.

Not a huge fan, but did watch the free version of Conors deservingly getting his a$$ kicked by Nurmagomedov.  Once Nurmagomedov gets you on the ground, he's like a bludgeoning worm restricting all your movement.

Huge ufc fan here as well. I even have ufc 1-10 recorded on my vhs tapes lol. They should still be at my parents house. I was only in middle school. I do a lil bit of training. Conor had nuthin for khabib. Khabib played a perfect gameplan. Khabib vs gsp would be awesome. If not that, then khabib and ferg

Hey, thanks to whoever marked my above post as rude.... geez!    This was in the off topic forum and about MMA and I did use the $$ signs, but oh well.

I see, I apologize then.  It is a cultural thing as my meaning of that word means "slapped", but I can see where it can be  misinterpreted. Again, my apologies if I offended anyone as I did not mean to.

kirman, The rules here are strict for some reason. The post was to gauge interest beyond flashlight collecting.

Conor DESERVED to get a WORSE BEATING. BUT he tapped out like the Mctapper/Mcnugget man.

Fergurson will not be able to match Khabib. Ferg striking is not precise as Conor’s, but does have decent ground game. Still Khabib WILL NULLIFY and SUBMIT Ferguson aft fierce ground and pound.

OK, you got me confused now as I did not write the "s" word, I quoted it from the post above mine.   I thought is was the "w" word which just means "slapped" as my Dad used it all the time to discipline me when I was a youngster.

A little more strict than I was aware of. Sort of takes away the fun of the off topic forum a little.

I agree, no way Ferg can best Khabib.  As far as Connors, I don't even understand how he gets to say the things he says.  In a way it was good though as he got what he deserved and his ego must be deeply bruised by now.

Very true man. Some members here make a big deal of everything. Hence, I do not post or participate here much.

I post every now and then. Just to be active. But not as much anymore due to red tape.

BTW, it was fun watching Conor encompass his true name Mctapper/Mcnuggets.

Ferg has pretty good ground game but lacks striking like Conor. Still Khabib will ground and pound Ferg and submit him.

It kind of leaves a sour taste with me that someone flagged me.  Definitely going to shy away from here for awhile.   Yep, Conor looked way out of his league with Khabib.  I always wondered "who" it will be that sets him straight, and when I heard of this match, I knew Khabib would do the job.  Too bad he did not take the high road all the way and walk out like a champ.  He didn't need to do anything more as Conor had absolutely nothing on him.

I got marked as rude too, someone obviously has precious eyes, it’s funny because my post will stay that way and the rude thingy disappears after like 1 day Big Smile

Really enjoyed the Ferguson Pettis fight, man Ferguson is a beast, he just walked him down with reckless abandon. Also enjoy watched The Black Beast get a W with 9 seconds left, but doesn’t deserve a title shot, has zero cardio.

Yeah man, Too many people get offended make big deal and flag posts for not reason. Hence, my posting has been VERY limited. period.

Back to subject, Pettis did well. Ferg is good but Pettis broke hand.

Lewis is one of those guys YOU DO NOT count out. One false move it is LIGHTS OUT no matter if you were winning on scorecards.

One solid shot from Lewis and Comier is going night night.

Most likely not. Khabib is facing the music for antics after his win. So might be suspended. Ferg will lose. Especially to ground and pound.

Dana said he won’t even try to book those 2 for the 5th time, falls through each and every time! But Dana lies about a lot of stuff, so take what he says with a grain of salt.

As unfair as it might be, I can see Khabib getting a suspension for what he did post fight, and the UFC will use that excuse to strip the title off him. He just isn’t the type of fighter people want to watch.

I’m not so sure about that, I’d go with Ferguson if it want to the ground, which it would, he is a multiple time world champ at BJJ and has a dangerous guard, studies under Eddy Bravo at 10th Planet Jujitsu. And standing, after what I saw I’d also pick Ferguson.

One of my CrossFit coaches also runs an MMA gym. Training for MMA isn’t my thing but I’ve thought about watching him compete locally.

Sitting on the couch watching MMA on TV holds no interest.

I spectate CrossFit events but that is different.

Uncle Dana is a JOKE. He lies and out for his own skin. He would throw anyone under train to save himself. He is not liked withing the MMA community due to the crap he does. Under pays lower lesser known fighters while sucking up to Conor because Conor brings in money. Forget about legitimacy of rankings for real fighters with skill.

Khabib is a real champ without the trash talking. He does his best in the cage with his fists and ground game that DESTROYED Conor.

Ferguson is known BJJ specialist BUT his striking is nowhere near Conor. Khabib has cardio gas tank and is VERY good at wresting with very good ground game.

Winning BJJ titles do not mean squat unless you are able to nullify your opponent in fight.

Ferguson is good, but not even close to Khabib’s ground and pound game.

MMA and other similar sucks now days.
K1 days with Andy Hug, Ernesto Hoost, Peter Aerts was real fun to watch. Top notch fighters, not just thugs in a cage .
Mike

When you’re born you get a ticket to the freak show. When you’re born in America, you get a front-row seat.

K1 is limited and not considered MMA. MMA encompasses striking, boxing, kicks, wrestling, bjj, sambo, judo, karate, kung fu, muay thai, and any form of martial arts under one roof.

To actually see which discipline is applied successfully in fight.

I watch MMA sometimes, but I agree that the good old K1 days were best to watch. Especially the Dutch with great techniques.

Nice not having to travel to the coliseum, and waiting thru all the christian/lion prelims.

Just heard from MctapperMcnugget. He FAILS to acknowledge Khabib is FAR SUPERIOR in MMA. Striking alone WILL NOT be enough to win fight.

https://www.mmamania.com/2018/10/23/18013362/ufc-conor-mcgregor-breaks-d...

Ferg is in some serious trouble when Khabib gets a hold of him.

On related note : Eddie Alverez ( former Bellator and UFC champ ) signed with OneFC with 9 figure income.

If McNuggets gets a rematch before Ferg has his chance I’ll be so pi$$ed.

Good on Eddie, UFC didn’t appreciate him, I’d like to see more top tier fighters going to Bellator.

I still think Ferg has a damn good chance to beat Khabib

The fight I saw proved that Mctapper couldn't take Khabib on the ground or standing up.  He was severely outmatched and has to learn to live with that defeat.

Sonnen, who spoke out that Kabib would handily beat McGregor, said in a rematch that Kabib would NOT be a shoe in.
