Well I pulled the trigger and bought one off E-Bay. These lights are getting hard to find and not going down in price:)

Wow these are really hard to come by now. I wanted to get one too to put in a E21A quad but the ebay price is pretty steep.

After I paid the big bucks I saw one for sale on a site in the UK for something like $139 USD. Unfortunately I didn’t save the link….

OH, BTW the guy I bought it from said he had a lightly used one (R50) for sale. PM me if you want his e-mail.

Yep, still not that fond of copper. Gorgeous light though.

Yea you paid more than twice the retail price. I hope it is worth it. lol

I believe you are referring to this site. Unfortunately they don’t ship to the US.

I considered buying used but then I like the shiny copper look and not a fan of patina on the copper. Do you know if Olight applied a coating to prevent oxidation?

no its raw copper, so once u break the seal it will patina over time like all raw copper lights.

All they applied was a vacuum packed heavy vinyl cover to get it to me so I could watch the beautiful patina develop with my own eyes:)

I’ve got about 35 copper lights and I’ve never polished one of them - not a real “maintenance required” guy!

I like shinny too. You can use Cape Cod polishing cloths. They will get your copper light shinier than before you took it out of the vacuum sealed bag, and they don’t stink like chemicals. Available at just about any hardware store or even walmart.

I want one of these puppies but if price is to high then pass. I would leave sealed anyway and not use it.

Does anyone else use a microcrystalline wax such as Renaissance Wax after polishing their raw copper lights?

It doesn't even come close to stopping oxidation/patina but it does slow it down a bit and results in a finish that some might find interesting:

Reduces tendency to show fingerprints.

Seems to produce interesting lustrous mottled patterned darkening rather than the traditional more consistent dull patina.

Your fingers don't stink as much after handling a RenWaxed copper light (something the size of an R50 has to be a real stink bomb!)

I do mine at different intervals, from once a month or so to once a year or two.

I found some useful info on how to preserve copper shine

Those are essentially paint/lacquer. I don’t personally like the feel of them on something like a flashlight, but do have lacquered brass hardware/trim around the house, where it’s fine. They can be hard to apply over knurling and around side switches without getting coating voids on highpoints, which then start to patina in ways that might not be particularly attractive. It also seems like coatings of that type could hinder heat dissipation on our little pocket rockets

I have some of the PVD coated brass and rainbow titanium Olights, and that seems to be the best finish of all for those of us who like shiny stuff.
