Bike light.

Has anyone tried this bicycle light yet. It looks like a good deal for someone who already has 18650 batteries and charger. http://www.intl-outdoor.com/shadow-650-lm-xml-x11-218650-bike-light-p-132.html

yea looks nice but imho it's over priced a cheap xml torch would do as good a job and save you money

although the battery pack would give better run time than say a single 18650 in a torch but then you could always carry a spare

It is under driven even with Sanyo 2600, a £10 501 with a crap Ultrafire 3000 will give more light, the finish is ok but the bodies pre-anodising are probably chucked in a wheelbarrow as they have dents etc.

The waterproofing is crap, the head unit is ok but the connectors and battery is zero.

The connectors are weak and small with laughable 3mm male and the wiring is thin and at the connector shrouding the twin wires can often be seen.

The switch rubbers are badly fitted and the off-centered ones fall out real quick necessitating a stripdown, this is not easy as the tail piece (plastic) is glued in and needs judicious use of a tool to break the bond and prise off, I find a 10" Bowie knife gives the required force.

The switch clamp disc can then be unscrewed but as the wires are soldered to it and very short there is very little room for error here, best to unscrew a few turns and see if rubber will centre, I replaced with black ultrafire ones which are a larger diameter seat area and much better.

The plastic tube has a couple of 'o' rings and then needs gluing back and held with clamps.

The led is glued to the body inside and nothing unscrews so no pill etc.

The wires are too thin and will damage easily.

The battery box suits unprotected cells as protected cells have to be forced in thus deforming the ordinary modified twin series cheapo holder which just has stickers for polarity stuck over the series polarity moulded signs.

Mounting is best done with a pair of stainless steel 'p' clips.

The above Bowie knife method had to be done to two of them.

Two black ones intended for pairing annoyingly had one a yellow and the other a green rubber.

I have ditched the battery boxes and use 1s4p welded packs on three bikes.

Overall??????????????

pretty NAFF Chinese CRAP.

One other interesting aspect is that when I ordered them there was a photo of a switched 4s battery box that was the same as the protected types @ 10-12 dollars on ebay, this has since been removed from the website. The aforementioned supplied pieces of tat makes fitting and removing batteries without damaging the covers needs extreme care and would be nigh on impossible with cold hands.

Delivery is 4 weeks.

How many did you buy?
