Prolight PQ2N

Prolight PQ2N is a very small 1.6 x 1.6 mm UV LED.

Highlights:

  • 940 mW rated radiometric power - very high for the size
  • thermal resistance of 3.5 W/mK - great for the size
  • 400 nm - quite high
  • available in small quantities from TME
    • nowhere near Nichia prices
  • compatible with virence E17 boards?
    • though really they deserve boards that make 3535 quad or 5050 9-up for SERIOUS UV power

I spent more than a year looking for a LED like this.

I strongly suspect that this is what Bocian uses in his UV lamp:

I took a closer look at the datasheets of similar models, in white.
PQ2A and PQ2N (yes, the latter is just the same family as UV mentioned in the first post).

The are very few CCTs to choose from (usually 2-3 per variant) but CRI goes from unrated to 9590. That’s not the minimum CRI that Nichia uses but the typical one. They are available with and without domes.

Output beats E17A for the same CRI and it should be possible to use Virence boards

Availability could be better, I see only one distributor (TME) having them and only 2 variants.
