What has a better resale value Quick 957DW or Quick 861DW hot air station?

Many times I use Paypal 6 months 0% interest promo to buy nicer things and sell them on once I’ve done some projects. It is a lot easier not to make mistakes when you have the proper equipment. If I know I’m going to sell it on I’ll save all the packaging so it’s an easy sale. The fact I’ve done it in the past also tends to put the buyer at ease and not trying to sell something that has a problem. I don’t want the cheaper burn down your house ebay stations. And they wouldn’t work with the promo either. I want to also buy from an authorized distributor. Between the Quick 957DW or the Quick 861DW does anyone have an opinion to what station might be an easier sale? One where I would get a bulk of money back out of. Sure 861DW is a nicer unit and great bang for your buck but the market would seem to shrink drastically over a more hobbyist focused/priced one. But, this is an assumption. I’m also trying to sort out a couple other things. I reached out to the seller to find out what the difference is between the 957DW and the 957DW+. I’m calling them back tomorrow for an answer. Also, I wonder if I might potential have less issue with the 861DW because it is in stock as compared to the 957DW, which would be dropped shipped. Say in the case one needed to be returned or arrived damaged. Unfortunately, they couldn’t tell me how long the drop shipped unit would take to arrive until I placed the order. They told me I would get an email, about shipping time, and could cancel the order soon after if I wanted. Thanks for any help.

Sorry I cannot help with choosing between the two models. I just have no experience here. TEquipment.net has both units for a good bit cheaper, especially the 861. They do accept paypal so your promo may work. I realize they do not show up on the quick authorized distributor list but they have an excellent reputation. I found them through the EEVblog forum, where they are highly recommended (some other members here have had positive dealings with them too I believe). If you’re not dead set on buying from one of the three distributors listed by quick, it’d be worth checking them out (create a free account and you get a little bit more of a discount too).

Thanks for the reply. I did come across TEquipment and noticed the price. Wasn’t sure with all the secondary marketing and grey market products out there. As well as the many accounts of counterfeits. I’m not even sure that the Quick USA site, which mentions authorized sellers, is even legit. Knowing that people have popped the hood and looked underneath to verify build quality is a good sign about a seller’s bona fides . I did message Quick Global and asked for a list of authorized sellers. No reply yet. The price on the industrial 861DW is looking better especially if it starts off with a better build quality. Less of a chance I would need to return the cheaper prosumer unit.

You’re welcome. Sorry I can’t help you more with the main thrust of your post.
