shame no lighted switch, they could have done like ff e07 match aux leds with switch color too, that would look even better.

Looks interesting. I hope it has a configurable ramp ceiling.

I agree with you, that a lit switch would look cool. . However, I think a recessed switch, something the E07 and the present D4 lacks, somewhat makes up for the switch not being illuminated. It makes it easy to find the switch and makes it less likely to be accidentally switched on in your pocket, should you forget to lock it out.

Looks like a “must-buy”. Hope it comes with Anduril.

Hoping for more 7135’s in the driver – that would be awesome.

This is the one thing that would entice me to buy more D4’s. My current D4’s don’t get used much, primarily because I prefer regulated output.
If the new D4 has higher regulated output and Anduril, I guess I could stop worrying about the FW3A optic debacle.

FW3A optic debacle? Maybe I shouldn’t ask… Really enjoying my FW3A…

Not a problem unless you’re planning to order more, though.

I don’t think there was much feedback before about a lighted switch being a priority. There was some about aux LED’s.

Also, the current button on the D4 has a pretty good feel as it clicks – much better than the lighted button on the ROT66. I don’t have a Q8 to compare to. Either way, if fitting LED’s on the relatively small button of the D4 adversely affects the feel of the button, I’d vote to keep the better feeling switch.

Yeah, the D4 switch is really nice. Perhaps the best E-switch I have ever used.

Yes.

The thing that would make this even better would be a 3×7135+FET driver.

That would be good.

I’d love to see a 1+3+FET for a nice low moonlight.

If this matched the FW3A with a 1+7+FET, it would be almost perfect.

Roughly how many lumens would a 3x take us up to? I really love the ~800lm level of the FW3A, however 400lm like the D4S would be acceptable.

with a bit smaller total diameter spring a back side with 7 AMCs would be no problem

Lexel, do you/could you offer a replacement D4 driver board like that? If so, I’m very, very interested, both for the original D4 and this new variant.

Seriously, get 7 AMCs and Anduril on this thing and it’ll be a de-facto FW3A killer for anybody who doesn’t have a strong dislike for side switches.

I’d like to see a 21700 optional battery tube.

The stock battery tube on the D4 is quite thick. I think there is room to bore it out for a larger cell without increasing the external dimensions of the light.

I must agree, a 21700 D4 would be awesome. On the other hand, I always wanted the D4 to be a little bit slimmer, close to the level of the FW3A and ZL SC64. 18350 tubes are perfect for impressing people too.

This looks like a better option than the (apparently?) cheapened FW3A SST-20 I ordered last week. Facepalm I’ll definitely be picking this up when it releases. I appreciate seeing a product improve and not regress in quality!

Yep.

Will be picking this one up quickly if it comes with a 3×7135+FET driver, or even better, the famous Anduril 1+7×7135+FET driver.

Anduril UI and AUX LEDS? Both upgrades I wanted but could not do myself on my D4. I’m getting one when they come out! Smile

The D4 is currently sold out on Intl-Outdoor. The D1S is also sold out. Surely this is just a coincidence, but I’m a bit giddy right now…

I don’t own a D4, but if it’s like the D1S (which I do own), Hank likes to keep things tightly packed (as shown below, source). A smaller spring would probably need to be something like one of Blue’s smaller BeCu springs or the tiny one from the Qlite drivers.

I heard someone who ordered a D4 recently got one with programming pads. If I had to guess that was probably the new driver meant for this light. If that’s the case you can probably rule out 3 channel FET.

That + a recessed button (to reduce pocket activations), and my planned FW3A order (which I’m holding on due to the glass screwup) become D4v2 orders instead.

The “recessed button” in the first post just looks like the current D4 button to me. Might be wise to wait for more info before getting your hopes up.

This looks like a good replacement for the FW3A I never got because it was lost in shipping… It’s going to be nice with the features from the D4S but slimmer and easier to fit in a pocket. A 21700 tube would be nice too if it can be made to work.
