New from Western MA, humble but growing collection :)

Hey folks,

I’m a hobbyist who has relied on flashlights for a long time, and I’m finally going knee deep. I’ve had a Streamlight Protac 2AA for 8 years that was looking a bit beat, so I ordered up an FW3A from Neal, and am really excited to get it in person.

9 month old kiddo aside, my hobbies include building cars for/with friends, I have an 05 Forester XT that’s fully built and in the process of getting a sleeved closed deck 2.35l stroker that started as an EJ22T, and an 06 V8 4Runner that I daily drive which has some mild suspension upgrades, skids, and mud terrains for camping off grid with friends, firearms, camping, and working outside on my property.

My Thrunite TH20 has done a good job filling the camp headlamp and dog walking role, but it has a cracked lens already, so if anyone has suggestions on replacement, or if it should simply be warranties that would be helpful!

I’m sure I’ll be pumping up my list of lights soon, but I think a charger is the next thing on my list, as I only have the freebie that came with my Sofirn SW32A, and an Eneloop kit for my AA/AAA lights.

When the FW3A shows up I’ll post a group shot. Very little that’s truly unique around these parts, but if anyone is like me, I’m sure the patina will at least be appreciated on my older lights.

I’m coming here from /r/Flashlights, and looking to learn all I can!

Thanks all, glad to finally be over here!

Jake

Howdy. Check out the blf lantern project, I strongly recommend it since it goes with many of the activities you’ve mentioned.

Excellent. I was actually considering a lantern for camping. I saw one of the Streamlights also functioned as a power bank which was a nice feature, but not necessary if it means a better lantern for the money.

Edit: Forgot to mention I tend to use the Streamlight, and a couple Milwaukee lights for garage worklights. (Already invested in the M12/18 battery platform for the tools.)

The nice thing about the BLF lantern is the ability to charge 18650 batteries with the built-in usb. I would still recommend buying a multi cell charger, I like the lii 500. I’m really looking forward to BlueSwords BLF charger project.

Yep, that is very cool! Very nice coverage and footprint.

I’m in for 1, better stock up on 18650’s, and get that charger!

Please enjoy your time here, JazzleSAURUS!

Welcome to BLF JazzleSAURUS! You may want to check out the BLF Q8 for a very powerful, yet affordable flashlight. Certainly bigger than the FW3A, but has a lot more power for outdoor stuff.
