Dereelight Info

Ok guys I'm wanting to buy a Dereelight. I'm wanting the best thrower they make with the extender tube to take 2 18650's. I think this XR-E R2 : EZ900 WC or WD tint is what I need. I want the brighter tint if there is such a thing. And what pill engine do I need(3SD or 3SM)? I think the 3SM is driven a little harder at 1.5 amps vs 1.2 for the 3SD. So which one is brighter? And what is the modle of the light I am wanting and a total price I can expect to pay?

Thanks in advance men.

Brad

Anyone care to help? Wake up 2100 and give me the scoop.

As I understand it the WC is (cool)whiter/brighter and then just grab the hardest driven pill you can find.

If you check out the Cree chromacity tint charts, you can see a dotted black line in all the charts. That is the "ideal" black body radiator line, eg that is what a piece of metal would radiate if you heat it up enough and it radiates light. The WD tint range is in that line, so it looks the most natural. When you go "up" you get too green, and you go down you might have too much pink in it. Take 1T, 1D, 1A and 1U. We usually use 1D and 1A, we do not use 1T (too green) or 1U (too pink). Can you imagine a slightly pinkish cool white LED esp visible in low or medium?

WC is definitely cooler but it's probably like T6 cool white and neutral white, they output the same. A 5000k 3C T6 is neutral white but it gives out very much the same output as a 1D cool white, i have measured it. There are actually 3 levels of efficiency and tint for neutral white, T6, T5 and T4, corresponding to 3 series, 4 series and 5 series neutral whites.

WC can be as high as 7000k, you would get a bluish white LED. WD is up to 6350, for my copy this is definitely in the > 6000k range, and it looks pretty cool already. I can't imagine 7000k, that jump in just 1000k is A LOT VISUALLY, btw.

So I don't think both would be very much different from each other, the WC and WD tints, just buy what you like.

Get the 3SM. You use 2 cells with that and it has Low Med High. If you just want 1 mode (high) then get the 1SM. You pay usd86 shipped to anywhere in the world via registered HKAM.

So is this the one I want?

Ok I just bought one. Thanks. Can't wait to get it.

I have the DBS V3 3SM R2 WD CW

Now do I have to by the Xtender tube if I want to use 2 18650's?

Yes you need the extender tube. But it is wierd....at least for me. Toilet plunger.

Get 2 x Ultrafire 18350 XSL. Dinodirect has it, so does manafont/KD/DX. More than enough juice to use for 1 hour in high. (not recommended for 1.5A drive in a hot country, use for 20 mins at most)

Does that mean I don't need it? I bought the DBS V3 XR-E R2 EZ900 with the 3SM pill. I would like more runtime. Can I run it on high for long periods of time?

And it didn't give me a choice for tint. I bought the aspheric lens.

You wont need more run time, put a battery in your pocket.....

I believe you will get more runtime in regulation with a 2-cell setup than with a (single cell *swap* single cell) approach.

Ok.

Yeah, with these very specific dedicated throwers, you usually won't need a lot of runtime. Just switch it to medium.

I just received my DBS-T aspheric today from Jay at Flashlightconnection and he sells the complete aspheric setup with the EZ900 pill and the new DBS-T model that has two dedicated modes, twist the head 1/4 turn for lo-med-hi or tighten for momentary/high only mode. It's a really fun light too. Mine came out to around $106 shipped.

I went ahead and bought the xtender 650 tube to take 2 18650's. I figured at least I will have it if I want that option. Now I'm going to have the ultimate led thrower. I can't wait.

So is it true that with that pill that if you use it in the (1) 18650 configuration that the brightness is half of the (2) 18650 configuration?
If that’s true can you use (2)CR123’s or (2) RCR123"s in the single body tube and get 100% output?

Correct, 2-RCR123A's are just as bright as 2-18650's. Just with 2-RCR123A's you don't have the run time as you would with the larger batteries. I never run mine enough to drain the 16340's
