Driver for XP-G R5

I want to make (mod) a light where a XP-G R5 are driven by a single 14500 battery.

I have looked at several drivers, but want to hear you clever members to what driver

you would recommend for the light.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hmmm, do you want to drive it very hard with no strobes? Then maybe the one driver from SB . I noticed that the Skyray S-A1 has a 17mm driver and the XP smooth reflector should also fit. It might get a little hot driving an XP-G at 1400 mA, but just for the WOW factor this might do the trick, or maybe a good old Romisen RC-G2 as host.

I forgot to mension that I perfer 1 mode, but 3 may be accectable.

Thanks for the link Vectrex. I dont know why I did not think of him,

I have bought lights from him earlier.

buy the 1400 ma ones from DX, and ill split it with you and take half lol

i dont need 20 of them, but shoot, ill take 10!

I have looked at those, but 20?? If you were my neighbor I would be happy

to share with you. But postalcharges in this part of the world does not

favour groupbuys. Sorry.

nah. USA is pretty expensive on postal too lol

But I got a big surprise when posting a package to the USA - $3 for 110 grams is not bad at all. And it will likely get there in under a week. I've had stuff from Texas and Georgia in under 4 days!

HK Post can't do that. But then HK is a lot farther away from here than the US.

when ur in the US, a package like that WITHIN the states would be like 6 bux. i cant figure out our prices here....

so messed up

I would expect to spend more than that to get 100 grams to the UK in less than a week. I was impressed!

That said, the last letter I got from where I worked in Zambia in the early 80's had a stamp on it that cost more than I used to get paid a year! And I was extremely well paid by local standards. These days, my annual salary wouldn't buy the envelope.

Where i live it takes around 5 euro for lets say 150g package and doesen't make a difference if its near or the whole other side of the country.

I've used these 1400mA drivers with single cell and XPG-R5 and I think they are excellent.

If 20 is too many, Kaidomain is offering them in packs of 10 for $17.68 and I'm sure I have seen 5 packs somewhere.

Thanks for your input Smelly, much appreciated. I have read a lot about drivers the last

few days and learned a lot of things. But Im still looking and any input are welcome

it is possible to get the 4x7135 17mm at ebay for exaggerated price:
(US $5.25 free shipping)
http://cgi.ebay.com/AMC7135-1400mA-Regulated-Led-Driver-/260599140613?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3caceb5105
or add aditional 7135 chip to available 3x7135 driver
from dx or kd
sku.26109 16.8mm for the extra 7135 chip
sku.6190 17mm as your driver to upgrade from 1 to 1.4A
($2.19 + $3.19)
the first option is a bit cheaper and you will have only one mode
the second option cost a fraction more, and enables you to chose
the modes you like, as described here:
http://budgetlightforum.cz.cc/node/310
you can also get 2 x sku.26109 16.8mm and use one of them
as the driver and the other as an extra 7135 source,
you will end up with one mode driver
if your first choice is one mode driver and you don’t like
to spend to much time on modding just get the one from ebay .
