S2+ oring at lens is a pita

The glow oring starts to protrude out once I start torquing down the pill. Seems like the oring likes to wedge itself between the glass and body then becomes distorted. Any better way to evenly torque it down? If there are better springs to get to not have to muck around with it, I’d be open to that as well.

1mm NBR o-ring and 20.5mm glass might help.

Have you tried putting some lubricant on the o-ring? I use silicone grease on the o-rings for the lenses of my flashlights. It helps a lot to keep them in place when assembling and provides water protection.

Yes, I did. The glass is smaller than the barrel so the oring slips. I’ll try to find a larger oring, maybe that will help

There’s a bit of a notch in the bezel where the O-ring sits, iirr. Most times, the O-ring sits in there even when the glass is removed. Make sure it’s sitting in there securely, then drop in the glass on top.

For the record. The correct order of assembling the components in an S2+ head are:

- head

- O-ring

- glass lens

- reflector

- centering ring

  • pill + led

Except for the O-ring, all surfaces have almost no friction with that of previous/following component.
With all due respect, maybe an extra cleaning of the front rim and the base of the reflector is in order?

Edit: simply dropping in the lens is not always a big succes.
I let the O-ring slide down in the (top-down) head, and adjust it on the “ledge” with a clean (pinky) finger.
Then I push my finger all the way up, place the lens on top of the finger, and lower my finger again.

you can snug the pill then take a toothpick and push the o ring back under the groove of the head

Ah yeah, I tried but still pushes out for some reason

Make sure it’s the right size, and not too small. It should drop in nicely, and sit in the groove perfectly.

Bought this XY-2 grease from FastTech some time ago, pretty nice all-around lubricant for flashlight threads, o-rings and even “family equipment” if you are to take notice and heed to item details. As to what do they refer to with “family equipment”, of course no @#$% idea, but given that FastTech sells all sorts of sexual toys and supplies… Of course not yet tried it in any of my family equipment.
