Problem with this is you then just end up with a DC powered light bulb . which is OK but like any light bulb you then need a shade or you'll suffer from nasty glare . I have and use diffusers like this but I also use either one of thgose cheap plastic shades off of a chepo lantern or  ones off of those octopus/ multiple gooseneck lights .

the reason I'm so into flat diffuser film is it throws a 160 degree to 180 degree beam angle  and as a flashlight you can get behind the glare . IMO the light has be out of your line of sight or in my case it just bugs the hell out of me . ..As far as workable diffusers like this . The best ones IMHO are tube versions that also allow light out the end as well .   I  have a foot long ? tube on a BLF Q8 that is so good you can look right at it on turbo .(4000lumens) with a normal diffuser about 200 lumens makes me cranky .

I just found something good. I weight train a few times a week and use

Oly Grip Weightlifting Thumb Hook Grip Cotton Tear Stretch Tape for my arthritic wrist and for support.
This tape is white and the adhesive is non-aggressive and the tape is stretchy.
It works well for diffuser on ff EO7,all my lights with 2” dia lens and smaller.
I always have a roll with me the tape has many uses and minimizes the hassle of carrying a big diffuser.

Dang Boaz, that’s quite the collection of DIY diffusers! I bought a silicone diffuser for my Sunwayman D40A way back when, but it left a weird greenish artifact on the ceiling. So when one of my house LED light bulbs went bad, I removed the diffuser like the OP did and put it over the silicone diffuser. It now has a great room filling beam. This is the flashlight that I turn on when I go into my workroom without turning on the lights, like to grab a beer! Beer

I’d rather use my flashlight around the house than turn on the lights.
