So I just received my new driver from mountain electronics and it is fantastic. The spring bypass had a nice big fat blob of solder that was flat on the contact point, thick wiring. Everything was beautiful. The one I got from china which was supposed to be identical barely had any solder on the bypass but the wire was cut in the middle and of course was useless but then the thing would only turn on high and that’s it. I checked to see if had gotten solder on the side of the chip or a short some where but nothing. The one from mountain electronics worked absolutely perfectly on the first shot plus it was brighter because of the MOSFET. Don’t know if anyone else has ever had a problem with parts from China but I can’t recommend mountain electronics enough. Great quality, very happy.
MtnElectronics is a true classic quality find. Hank Wang is a leading light in the flashlight world. Emisar, Noctigon, Meteor, Covoy et al are all high quality, trail-blazing names.

Mtn. is great. I’ve ordered some stuff from there and it’s great quality stuff, Convoy, etc. and reasonable stateside prices too. If you live in the US it’s no-brainer to order from Mtn. Fast shipping too. They have awesome drivers with custom FW from Toykeeper and Dr. Jones.
For Chinese stuff, you generally get what you pay for with flashlights, but there are exceptions like Convoy. I have a Convoy driver and it’s awesome, and had a couple hosts of theirs. I don’t own any of their lights, but I’ve heard that Sofirn is also good for the price, and Lumintop. Convoy are great lights for really affordable prices. Plus Simon Mao is great to work with.
I have ordered drivers leds and other parts from Mtn a few times and all the parts were high quality with zero problems. Great place to buy from. I have also ordered parts, off road lights, packs and tons of other products from China that have failed or fallen apart that sit in a big junk box. Then there are those parts from China that have held up for years and are still going strong. It’s a hit and miss like with my off road led lights. I have had my 52’’ light bar from china now for 6 years and still going strong while others fail within months.
Not surprised, the quality of just the way he soldered the bypass wire screamed flashoholic.
Good to hear on the lumitop as I just ordered the ec01 and I also have some convoys and agree that they’re great. Was really impressed with the quality. Hope lumintop is just as good.
The Mountain Electronics custom flashlight, hosts, components, and batteries that I’ve ordered over the years have all been high quality.
My favorite driver is the FET + 7135 Driver - 17mm - MTN-17DDm which I have in 9 flashlights. I order it with wires, spring bypass, and Bistro firmware. It has never failed and has all the functionality that I want (9 brightness levels including moonlight, forward and reverse mode, temperature regulation, low voltage protection, mode memory, and battery level check).
