I’m looking for moddable headlamps and small lights that will run the brightest from a USB charging cable. There’s probably some limitations to this. Its also not something that is typically discussed in reviews. A magnet or a place for one would be nice, too.

Well, I happened to have a Boruit D10 sitting on my desk, and it works fine without a battery on a USB charging cable (aside from the fact that computer USB ports only supply a measly 0.5A-0.9A).
It’s pretty small, and the optic and LED and easy enough to swap out. Super cheap too, so there’s not much risk to messing around with it.
An Wizard unfortunately won’t be suitable for your purposes, since the charging port actually requires you to mechanically lock out the light before it will start charging.
