Is this driver cactus?

I got an eye10 in parts, I tried to put it back together but the driver misbehaved. Turning the control ring resulted in some kind of instant on or couple of flashes or strobe mode.

Disassemble and reassemble a couple times, check battery, check continuity through battery tube etc…

Decide that the magnets are incorrectly positioned in the control ring. Start playing around with magnetic polarity. Seems like I find a working position. Assemble - low to high takes a quarter of the ring travel. Remaining 75% does nothing.

More screwing around. I even used stronger external magnets only to get a non response.

Now it doesn’t respond at all.

Is the driver busted?

For anyone wondering, "cactus" is Australian slang for "dead".

Lol, I try to keep my language international friendly but that one didn’t click

I can’t say, I do think this driver is Cactus lol

yes it seems like the driver is cactus, aka lemon for usa

Brown bread!

Sounds like it might be cactus.
You can get the driver from Jetbeam. I have ordered several for backups and it’s nice to update RRT-01 and TCR-1 drivers to have the strobe and sos modes.

Toast!

Sounds like it’s cactus alright. From the story, the conductivity went all out of whack before something finally burned out.

Yeh, that’s kinda what I was thinking. Just didn’t want it to be true :weary:

Thanks for the link 007 I’ll send them a request for replacement.
