SK-68 Mini Zoom Lights....Is there a BEST One?

Hey all,

I think I lost my SK-68 light. I used it quite often cause it had useful light and it only took a single AA battery. Now I need to get another. I bought mine on Amazon a while back and it was only like $4 or so. I want to pick up another one, but there are so many different ones listed that it’s hard to pick one and know that it’ll work as my last one did.

Can you all tell me which one of the SK-68 lights would be the best one to get? Is there one that you have that has proven to be a really good light and wouldn’t mind passing on the info?

Thanks
Larry

I don't know about the best Sipik SK-68 clone, but I actually prefer these:

Oops, looks like Banggood has really raised the price on these.

Here's almost the same thing on Gearbest:

For your Sipik SK-68 clone, do you want one mode or three?

If you just want a single mode, flashlights like the ones linked above are what I like.

Amazon can be a kind of russian roulette when buying generic lights. Especially unbranded lights, or those with just the usual “XML-T6” idiocy etched into them. Orange switch, green switch, black switch, good slider, grabby slider, loose slider, etc.

And don’t forget that unless the seller pays extra for his own stock exclusively, you get from a mixed bag of whatever gets vomited into The Bin. SK68s, panny-Bs, anything. Not to mention commingled SK68s and SK98s.

Point being, you can get absolutely great ’68s from Lucky888 one time, be sooooooo happy that you reorder a few more from Lucky888 a week later, and then get absolute crap. It ain’t that you got screwed over by the seller, but just by luck of the draw you got good stuff first, and crap later.

Yep, Russian Roulette or a box of chocolates. You never know.

Coast HP1: one mode, forward clicky, tail switch, very strong clip, 1AA/14500, zooming lens, 5000K CCT, CRI 70 or so is my impression, tint is nice though, no green or yellow. Driver appears to be a battery vampire. No LVP means only use protected 14500 Li-Ion.

Build quality seems quite all-right. Not so sure about the long term quality of the switch though, in some reviews users mention the switch breaking after some time. Also I have seen better quality regarding the spring and the threading in the tail cap. Light image looks quite clean though in both extended zoom positions; in between there is some ringiness.

I bought one a while ago on amazon.com, just because I was curious about zooming flashlights. Currently listed on amazon.com for USD 9,53.

I have no experience with Sipik clones so I cannot directly compare the difference in quality.

i agree that it is a gamble, so many copies of this thing - they can sell decent one day and bad the next
even amazon

Everybody went through the Sipic Clone stage at some time.
As said. Good ones are good ones.
500lumens. 50 to 100 mtr beam.
In your dreams. maybe.
Big and Bulky for beam. Poor quality.
I bought 3 of those linked above. $2.70 ea from memory.
one worked on arival. ALL 3 fell apart within a month or so.
They and a coupla pen types at same time were probably the worst torches I ever bought.

Go to specials. There are lots of small much better designed. reliable. good beam torches avail for under $10.
That WILL last for yrs. reliably.

For round the house Astrolux AO1 (AAA) are great. 3 levels twisty.
I have still around 4 Usually in the $7.50 range del.
The Jetbeam JET-1 MK is a great AA torch too.

The cheapies usually ARE. REAL cheapies for a reason.

Got this deal a couple months back and the tint lottery Gods were kind to me as it is creamy white.
Your tint may vary, only got one sample so can’t say 100%, can only tell what came.

It is slightly different that traditional SK68 yet still the same format.
Med and Low have PWM for sure, but still very usable flashlight.
Knife is cheap as would be expected but have had worse.
Comes in a nice package for under $7 with code/coupon and ships quick.
