What's your opinion! Want to build DIY

Hellow BLF community, my first post.

So I fell into the flashlight world the other day and I’m stumbling through. I have a solid background in electronics, since I built a lot of FPV racing drones and have a programming/computer science background.

I’m also an EDC guy and I need to find a more ideal flashlight for my EDC.

So I started off with an Olight S1R Baton. But it’s too small in hand. I also have a Microstream streamlight, also a little too small, but I think I prefer the tail switch to the side switch of the Olight.

So as I am looking around the place I love this: Pre-Owned: Oveready Boss 35 - Satin Silver Aluminum and Amber Secondar

I love it for it’s Finish (going with my EDC theme), it’s size and it’s quality components. So I am wondering what I can do to get close to this on a DIY budget.

I don’t need a pocket sun, I really just need an EDC light.

I see that many of the 18350/18650 size flashlights are in that size range (around 9cm in length).

I’m interested in the DIY build, but only out of necessity to get what I want. I don’t love the FW3A design, I without trying it for myself, not sure if the electronic tail switch is going to tick my fancy, versus the McClicky style, which would be optimal.

I also love the fancy stuff, like drilled tritium optics, which I imagine you can diy?

So I am thinking a triple emitter, Nichia 5000K (I hate white light), with the 10508 Carclo Lens - 3-UP Frosted Medium Spot Optic.

I love a really low moonlight setting for during the night.

I also love the lights that have that secondary coloured option.

What I do not know is about the Host/driver etc. Obviously there is the Convoy S2+ with the 18350 tube mod to reduce the length, but I am wondering if I can mod a FW3A, or if there are other hosts. If there was a aluminum/titanium host that I could stonewash, that would be amazing.

I’m just a little lost at the moment. Also, is there any awesome YouTuber who I can study to learn heaps about DIY building?

Where to from here? Thanks in advance for any directional input.
