Update: Anyone bought any more old school incans lately?

I was just wondering if anyone had bought anymore cool, cheap, older incan lights lately?
I haven’t. I bought 3 just after Langcj bought one. I bought one like it as well as an art deco light that I post pics of. After than I bought another one like the first one (like Langcj’s) but that one had too much rust and after trying to clean it and getting it to work it just wasn’t reliable. It come on just in storage and depleted the battery so I throw it in my “parts bin”.
I’m now pretty such satisfied with the two that I have and haven’t been actively looking on eBay for more but I still find them interesting.
It would be interesting to here of any new “finds” that some one you have perhaps run across lately?

I have been looking but have not found anything. I look in the local consignment shops. I don’t buy any on eBay because I need to really feel it with the Retro lights. If I found one of the other colors to match my red one on eBay I would buy it.

I had a 502d and added it an aspheric lens. I now use this to light cigars  anyway, I made a search on High CRI lights and tried my incan for some color peeking. Incan definitely pops up the colors, much better than a warm led.

I was halfway there  I have a green in the same style as yours and found a black one in that same style but that turned out to be the rusty inconsistent one.
I’d like a blue one as well as a red one like yours. I’m not actively looking but if I found one I’d take it for sure.

Oh you mean totally retro lights. I had a 2d Incan with totally ringy and pathetic beam. It is the same design we have been seeing for more than 30 years and it is funny they continue making these. Let me find a link.
Ah, here. http://www.hepsiburada.com/Liste/aliminyum-el-feneri-classic-370112/productDetails.aspx?productId=otm370112&categoryId=20024696&SKU=OTM370112

Yeah, that’s the concept  The beams are bad but the looks of some of the older ones are interesting. It’s more of a nostalgic thing. I put diffuser film behind the lens so the beams on my two lights are actually nice (and warm) but just not very bright

Couldn't resist this one as it was only $2. Didn't appear to be a moddable host but it was definitely a copy of a well thought design. I could even use this for many tasks if I weren't a flashaholic. I still use a Minimag for nostalgia, it was a big step over my previous incans, a huge drop after my first led light. If only I could squeeze a driver and a led into that bulb size. I would love to see them surprising people.

I bought a new Fulton angle light, the 2 x "D" cell one that is army issue. Not really sure how I can mod it, it would be a cool light if it had a decent beam.

Fulton's right angles?

EDIT, I found a link: http://www.flashlightmuseum.com/Fulton-Flashlight-MX-991-U-2-Cell-Dark-Green-Right-Angle-Light-with-Colored-Lenses-in-Tail-Cap-Belt-Clip-and-Ring-Hanger-2D-1955

EDIT2: Oh, it looks like you've edited your post too. :)

Elektrolumens used to (and may still) sell pre-modded ones. I've seen Wayne around here so maybe he'll chime in.

But not really budget.

Well worth a look - but remember in the pictures that Wayne has exceptionally large hands.

I've always fancied one of his Kong lights with 12 XM-L's in it. That thing makes a 6D Mag look wieldy.

Not a recent purchase but I did buy this in 2005 so it still qualifies, right? :D

I discovered this in a box while looking for some old documents...

It still had the original set of batteries in it. In case you were wondering, the light still works. The batteries have self-discharged to the point of being near dead but they do work. :)

There is something to be said for the KISS school of thought. This sat in a box in the basement since some time in late 2005. How often do you try to turn something on that was left untouched for over six years, and have it work flawlessly? Color me impressed.

I am kind of surprised the batteries didn't leak though.

Next to a L2D P100. One of my first non-Surefire lights. This one still works as well.

And here's a link to a review, courtesy of flashlightreviews.com. And I am almost positive a still a have replacement bulb somewhere. :D

i have a few of the ol timeys in the basement somewhere including (i think) a 6 d rayovac
