FW3E GLOWBODY groupbuy (interest list)

Hello my dear friends!

Neal will offer a quite special flashlight, the:

Lumintop FW3E GLOWBODY

The Lumintop FW3E with GLOWBODY (green, red and blue) has a full copper middle section housing a variation of the known FW3A driver
and will be available with the same LED variations. (listed below)

The big difference to the FW3A is the lack of a inner tube for the switch.
To make that work Lumintop decided to use a USB-rechargeable Battery with exposed negative contact on the top.

Interesting idea. I haven’t seen anyone do this before.

That said, the all-plastic body looks a bit tacky and cheap. This is not for me.

Seems more like something my kid would like. Make it fully muggled with a protected battery and price it at $30. Then I’ll consider getting a few so my kids can have flashlights like Dad’s with a fun glow factor for play and camp.

For sale:

Multiple budget knives

Wow, tough crowd. Overready has been coating lights with glow powder for years. I think this is another great variation of the of the fw3a. Pity there wasn’t a choice of red – green – blue

As much as I liked to get 1, just for fun, it seems that the price is too high for this light. Also, needing a “proprietary” battery, makes it even more expensive in case we want a spare one.

The concept is a mix of gimmick and cool , but the price may turn away many people.

In any case, thanks for the work and the deal, Martin and Lumintop Thumbs Up

Totally agree…. I actually like that it would make finding the light easy since 50% of the time I’m looking in the dark for a light.

Interesting. Now please produce a kit that allows us to make any 18650 or 18350 cell compatible.

I made this joke 1 year ago about how Lumintop seemed poised to simply “milk” the FW3x design with endless dumb or creatively dull variations …

I did not guess the glowy plastic version Facepalm

Well, I must be silly/dull/dumb and easily milked because I have bought from Oveready/FF-lights/Lumintop/BLF/silent ordinance and others manufacturer’s that make lights in brass/copper/stainless steel/Titanium/7075/carbon fiber/zirconium/wood/ABS/sapphire/acrylic (or plastic as you say) and very happy with my purchases Hmmmm.

You are not silly, it is merely a joke (about how many variations they make).

Would love to get one but honestly, I can’t justify 100$ on a plastic light while the alu version is around 35$. The TI version is around the same price as the proposed glowing plastic version.

I was hyped for this when I thought it would be priced similarly to the aluminum version and thought it would be a standard model, not the “E” version. As cool as I think it is, the price and proprietary battery will have me passing on this.

Proprietory battery ruins it for me. It would seem this would not evenbe usable with a std cell. At least the Olights, for ecample, that needed their own cell to operate with all features intact could be turned on/off with a std cell, if Iremeber correctly.

I actually like it, but the price is the main thing keeping me away unfortunately.

Maybe kicking in an open door but: buying separate GLOWBODY tails and bezels makes sense?
Or does the magic only happen in the combination of GLOWBODY body and proprietary battery?
And the GLOWBODY tails and bezels are only useable for legoing different colors.

You are a flashaholic if you are forced to come out of the closet, to make room for more flashlights.

Its hard to justify the price when The FW3A is around 48 dollars and the Titanium version is 90. 100 for a plastic glowing FW3E is hard to swallow. They look good but not a 100 dollars worth of good. Maybe if they where tritium lined and glowed permanently or had the head and tail with tritium slots filled. To be honest and not mean in any why, they have a very cheap look to them. Maybe if they had designs in the copper sleeve filled with the glow plastic like a dragon or cool looking patterns of some sort I’d be interested. This is just my opinion so please don’t take it as an offence because that is not my intention at all.

Since it’s Lumintop, instead of a dragon, it’ll be a bunny. Facepalm

A major fact that seems to be missing here is how long they glow for, and how brightly over that time. Anything gitd glows for a little while, whether it is of any use after 1 hour is another thing.
I would imagine the green/cyan may glow for a while, but the orange and the purple one for next to no time I’d guess, orange slightly longer than purple. Those 2 colours in my experience don’t last long at all, which would make it a bit pointless – for this price I’d expect nothing less than a 4 hour (or more) glow time at semi reasonable level.
I’m quite into gitd stuff which is why I ask, I know when crx tested those turboglow gaskets they weren’t that impressive for longevity of glow. Also worth mentioning the ‘charge time’ to make them glow at peak is quite significant, like 20 minutes in the right light.
