Help me pick a flashlight please.

First of I really don’t know much about flashlights, hence why I’m asking you guys.

I live in the UK and it’s starting to get dark a lot sooner. That means walking alone at night in my local woods with my two dogs.

I’m looking for a fairly small 18650 flashlight (I vape and already have decent chargers and batteries). That battery size isn’t a deal breaker but preferable.

So my needs are light up the path I’m walking, also I want to be able to see a fair bit into the distance.

I want to be able to pick out things like , deer , other walkers / dogs ahead of me (I guess upto 300m).

I want the light fairly compact and I really like the designs with those ridged strike bezels.

It’s not for self defence, but it would be nice to have a flashlight that could aid me if I were ever attacked. I’m an ex - boxer so I’m very used to using my hands this way. Haha it’s very unlikely I will ever dazzle and right cross someone in the face with a flighlight bezel but hey who knows . I also really love the design from a looks standpoint.

That said … It’s not a weapon and I don’t want it to look like a weapon.

Main purpose is to light up my surroundings in the pitch black and keep an on my dogs and an eye out for things my dogs will potability want to chase or play with .

Want it compact/fit in my pocket,very bright and fairly cheap, a ninja fighting bezel is a preferably haha.

Been looking at convoy lights on fasttech I quite like the look of them.

S8+ , M21 A, M21 B, M2 XPL HI + e.t.c. (no idea if these lights will be good for me)

It doesn’t have to be a convoy, I love the olight warrior x pro but I just can’t afford it.

Any suggestions please?

Ideally under £30. Although I would pay more for something really special as I will use it every night.

I can definitely wait month or so if needed. I have a crappy flashlight that I used last year, so there isn’t a huge rush.

If ordering from China would I like to use fasttech preferably (I use them for vaping stuff and trust them ).

I’ve never used fasttech so maybe someone else could recommend something from there.

Just out of interest, where in the UK are you? You’ll be overwhelmed by colour temperature options and if local I’d be more than happy to show you a few

The Olight Warrior X standard version goes on sale for $77 USD at olightstore.com in two days. I’m not sure if you can get that same deal in the UK, but worth looking. I’d personally spring a little more for that. It’s such a nice light. You’d probably want to stick with the included 18650 because the light requires a button top with a 10A current capacity in order to hit the max output on turbo. But it will run on other button-top 18650s in a pinch, and even 2xCR123 if I remember right.

I have the Warrior X Pro and it’s my favorite, proprietary battery aside. Highly recommend either light.

Convoy C8+ would be my next pick given the budget, but I don’t think it has a very “striking” bezel.

Sofirn SD05 has a very surprisingly throwy beam for its size and a good amount of spill. You could see well out to 300m.

I just watched a review, it seems decent.

Ideally I would want the button on the back and the style of bezels I really like.

No such offer on the warrior in the UK sadly. They are around £129ish

I’m quite attracted to the convoy S8+ which is around £18.

Thank you. Just had a look. To be honest I’m not that fussed on the button position and normal type bezel.

I would like the button to be on the tail cap and to have a strike bezel which I really like the look of.

Since you quite like the C8+. You can consider the Sofirn C8F with 3*LH351D. It’s a 21700 light that comes with 18650 sleeve.

Get a SS Bezel for it. :+1:

I’ve been looking at it. It seems really good. I like that’s it’s more floody than the convoy S8+.

What I don’t like is the price, compared to the convoy (it’s around double). I don’t think I like it that much more so I may end up going with the cheaper light.

Still very much open for suggestions.
