Batteries for Haikelite HK04

Hi guys,

I just bought an HK04…first proper light I’ll own…I need some batteries…I think they must be button top due to connection ring although the seller tells me he used flat tops without issue. I need a charger too so are these any good do you think ?

I dont think you need button top.

The Samsung 30Q is a great battery. There are others.

I use the MiBoxer charger. Works great. There are others, I am not a big fan of Nitecore.

Thanks….I was just reading about miboxer chargers…all of a sudden I’m off down another rabbit hole…took me days to chose a light…now its batteries and chargers lol… Just don’t want to buy rubbish and regret it when the light does reach its potential…

Just found a UK wholesale site selling to vape industry etc…

Samsung
18650 30Q at £2.55 ea
21700 T40 at £3.49 ea

Problem is to get this price need to buy £60+

I don’t need that many…worth a group buy thing ?

Hm, when you buy a charger that adversizes with four 5800mAh 18650 batteries in it, I suspect the charger is just as far from the stated specifications as the batteries are.

Do some digging in nkon - That HK04 draws a lot of amps so high drain cells are better suited. Not to be confused with high capacity (mAh).
Very reputable seller. Check the Xstar D4 or X4 for fast charging (didn’t scrutinize the specs for comparison).
Other make (check AliExpress) as MiBoxer C12 offers more juice and better UI.

So far I’ve tested the HK04 with flat-top Sony VTC6 and flat-top LG HG2, which are high-drain cells, and they appear to work properly (as long as these batteries were not dented (or rewrapped) in some way. Samsung 30Q flat-top appears to work too, but I’m a bit concerned that since 30Qs have a recessed top, maybe it will be more sensitive to not making a proper contact (I didn’t test very long, just that they did work, at least when I tried them).

I have some VTC6 and HG2 that have a bit torn wrappers, so I added another wrapper on them — when I tested these rewrapped flat-top VTC6 and flat-top HG2, they don’t properly make contact anymore with the HK04 (or other similar body design lights like the SP36) - since the plastic wrapper added some thickness on top, enough for the battery to not make proper contact with the HK04.

The HK04 also has a built-in charging (USB-C port, but needs USB-A-to-USB-C cable), and the included USB-A to USB-C cable appears to be good quality (I tested it has lower resistance compared to other common USB-A to USB-C cables I have around), and it seems to charge reasonably fast (it seems to draw a bit higher than 5v/2Amps if the USB power adapter can provide more than 2 Amps).
