Aneng BT-168 Pro Battery tester- Throw your multimeter away :P

Hey folks i hope all is well. I stumbled upon this device while in the darkest parts of Aliexpress.

We here on BLF preach the importance of checking a battery voltage. I think this device the Aneng BT-168 is an awesome idea. Its easy to use and can be given to any one to test there cells.

Its only a 3 digit display so you don’t get the awesome resolution i get on my Brymen meter.

Same cell as above. Its close enough right?

Its not spring loaded i can see pros and cons to spring loading this device.

No battery inside so it draws power from the cell you are checking.

NiMH

The screen is clear and easy to read. Not being spring loaded the numbers can jump around if its not tight enough. The build quality is okay but for the price what do you expect. Its only a few US dollars each plus shipping.

I used to see little battery testers like this in old radioshack catalogs and the price seemed high. They’ve hovered around $7 for as long as I can remember. Back in the 1970s when they were analog, they were like 6 bucks. More than 30 in today’s money. Later on they revised the model and it was $7 and that year it works out to be about $40 in today’s money. Now they’re digital, less than two bucks, shipped. Crazy.

Radioshackcatalogs.com has a bunch of nostalgia-inducing old catalogs. The 70s was before my time, but I remember these in the 90s, too.

Very cool, everydaysurvivalgear, thanks for posting. Googling reveals it is sold in the US on WalMart’s site for $8.29.

Shipped and sold by JoyBuy, so still possibly shipping from China, anyway. Lot of 1-star reviews mention that, so I dunno. The site indicates 6-day shipping. Who knows.
