After being away from playing with lights for a while, I come back to a few surprises. One being that solar force isn’t available now. They were my favorite to modify. So with that being said I went on a search for new hosts.i looked up the usual and stumbled upon ultrafire lights i haven’t seen before. I grabbed one called the uf60. It looked like it used p60 type components. After it came in I naturally toe it apart. It’s a beast! The pill screws into the body instead of bouncing around on a spring and it’s pretty robust for a pill. P60 reflectors work with it. The finish is absolutely amazing. The body…… this thing has 3mm thick walls!! Since the driver and led are same size as p60 requirements, I grabbed a 5.1 amp buck driver, 3volt xhp50.2, and 2 18350s. For once I can’t believe an ultrafire for me a little excited lol. So is there any other ultrafire, or similar, lights that worth looking into?
Sure, for $3 they are great. Worth every penny. Its also the only light I can find that meets my lumen requirements of 90,000,000
Lmao they actually hit this one pretty good and possibly even under rated it. Had a rating of 800 lumens. Besides it wasn’t purchased because it was going to be used as is. It was purchased to be modified.
I have a half a dozen older’ish Ultrafire SK68’s. They are built fairly well. As much as you can fairly build a cheap zoomy I reckon. If I don’t try and hot rod them then hey work just great. I have biscotti drivers and SST-20’s in them and they just keep plugging away.
I’ve never really messed with zooming flashlights. Might try a few
i have one too from like 10 yrs ago, zooming, but i think the LED is getting worn out, i dont know how to modify, if anybody is in the ontario toronto area, feel free to come get it, i also have an OLD ass maglite, a duracell 1500 from costco with a broken tail switch, all to give away, or going to trash lol
Honestly it seems the quality has gone up on some of their products. Keep in mind I said some. There’s still the ungodly cheap looking 502 series lights. There’s a classic style xenon light for 8 bucks that’s type 3 ano. The uf60 i got definitely feels like it has type 3 also but didn’t see it advertised with it. I’ll have to post a few pictures of it later.
