Considering Emitter Swap on Sofirn C8G Pls Help

I got a Sofirn C8G a week ago and I’m really happy with it except for the CW tint. I see that Convoy has bare XHP35 HI emitters in 4000K for sale. Would it be possible to swap the emitter? I have access to a solder iron etc. How risky is it?

Or should I just sell it and get another C8 type flashlight like a Convoy M21A SST40 5000K?

I really like the 21700 battery and the access to max ramp via momentery half press on the C8G but the cool white is unpleasant.

SST40 5000k would not look much better than CW XHP35.

Once you crack open the weakly glued bezel it should be pretty straight forward if you follow Matt Smiths reflow guide

I really like Skylights modded C8G that uses GT-FC40 emitter which beats XHP35 in tint and color rendering

The XHP35 is a 12V Led, where the SST40 is a 3V so that wont work unless you replace the driver as well.

Personally i find the 4000K XHP35 a bit too yellow, the 5000K SST40 will be probably a lot better than the CW 6500K
My NW FT03 with SST40 has a nice tint.

Thanks, I was concerned about the 4000K being yellow.

Maybe I should just get a C8/M21A with a SST40 in 5000K.

Have anyone tested a dedomed SST40 in a C8 style host? Is the increase in throw worth the effort/risk?

Thanks flightless22, the GT-FC40 looks good!
It seems like a complicated endeavor for a flashlight newbie like myself though…
Let me first try and get a stock flashlight that I like before resorting to modding
